Default brush fire mt baldy

just heard a brush fire started around mt baldy. wowm not sure how much rain moisture they got yesterday but appears still dry enough to ignite/burn. hope heat later this week does cause more of this cr@p. anyone know how it started and are winds supposed to accompany heat with this spell??

I saw it on the news. It's above the village. No word on the cause. It was too overcast to tell where it was from the freeway but I could see smoke. I hope they get it out quickly; the conditions are still and a little cloudy, which should help.

Baldy cant burn down i like Baldy. Its like a miniature wannabe Big Bear Minus the lake. Its nice up there, like a Vacationa way from home even just going to dinner there.
Although it did say no threat to baldy village..

I live in the Foothills below Baldy and have been watching the constant flow of helicopters fly over my house down to the Colonies at the 210/Campus to fill their buckets in the community lake there. See plenty of smoke and some ashes here. I have to assume CWP is closed? Maybe a thread to update closures would be helpful since there's talk of several areas to be closed to fire danger? Let's hope for the best hate seeing the loss of wildlife there are even small groups of bighorn still left above here.

The Wilson cam shows the smoke a bit.

Claremont Hills Wilderness Park was closed this morning around 8:30am At that time, I could see a fire from Mt Baldy Road just east of where it enters National Forrest. The fire seemed small. Now I'm seeing news reports of 35 acres, and Sharky's (excelent) source says 200 acres.

Guess it's still spreading. Sucks with the heat predicted for tomorrow.

I hope everyone is safe and all, but fires in the woods are part of the natural order of things. I forget that when my morning ride gets interfered with.

FYI ... I went up that way on my ride yesterday and they're not allowing any bikes past Shinn Rd. (residents only)
I remember somewhere on here was posted about an upcoming ride I live right below Baldy if anyone needs an update I can ask the CHP at the road block if it's concidered safe enough to allow bikers through. Would have been HEAVEN if he let me through with barely any cars yesterday!!

They had a ton of HotShots brought in from Arizona for this one.
HotShots=badass handcrews

Default Baldy closed through the weekend

Just asked the CHP at Shinn and Baldy Rd. and it will be closed ALL weekend open only to residents. No bikes.
Looking south off my deck I'm seeing a small bit of smoke to the mountains south of Chino?? Hopefully it's nothing. It's been pretty windy here since early morning.

Default Chino Hills

Just got back from lunch in Yorba Linda...

looks like the smoke in the picture is Chino Hills!

Tons of smoke in the air, (white? doesn't that mean it's out? or at least under control? ) Along the ridgeline on the west side of Chino Hills SP.

A fire in the Chino Hills/ Carbon Canyon area would be hugely bad; that area hasn't burned in decades. Let's hope the smoke-eaters get it out quick.
