We returned to the base of Cholla via Dripping Cave and than Coyote. Next time you come to Aliso you really have to go up Cholla at least 2x so that you can descend on different trails.

Anyways I did my usual Sat am ride with Adrenaline. Normally at Oaks, Neil came to Aliso since Pugz would be having his ride here. We went up Cholla and down Rock-it and than headed back up to meet with the big ride. Saw some faces I have not seen in a while. After drinking Gabes warm Bud I headed back to Cholla and climbed up and waited at the top. This is where I accidentally split myself from the main ride. I saw riders leave so off I went. Next thing I know I am at Top of the World with HBEric, SDStumpy, OMR, Dizle and a few others (some I remember from SART). So OMR takes us to Disneyland and back and I never saw the main ride again. I actually wanted to talk to a few old faces so I hung around and drank Mudmans ice cold Blue Moon with Jared. But I ran out of time so maybe next time!
The main group saw them too, if I had been going faster I might have taken them out.

Impressive, but how does that make you a clydesdale?

I would think skinny and clydesdale would not be in the same sentance.

They were still there when the main group was heading down Meadows. There had to be 10 or so of those numbskulls that planted their a$$e$ on the trail.

I think they were there to worship the MTB Gods as they descended from above!

I weigh 210 on the nose. I could lose 9.9 lbs between now and the event, and still qualify.

At my heaviest I was 217, but 8.5% BF. That was a little too big for my taste and I didn't feel graceful at all. I haven't lifted in a while so the muscle has shrunk and the gut has grown a little.

I would like to lift again, but I am having a hard time finding motivation, and I blew out my left rotator cuff and I can't lift heavy like I used to. Besides, I want to start riding more so I'm probably going to end up leaning down anyway. Don't need any more size or strength to ride well, I really need to work on my endurance instead!

Traverse and Temecula are going to kill me, but my competitive racing days are long over. I was ~160 lbs when I was racing back in the day.

It was kinda humbling when those 15-year old kids met up with us along the ridge and they climbed right by me almost effortlessly as I was wheezing along, lungs and quads burning.

I was thinking to myself...WTF happened? That used to be ME! I'm getting OLD!!!

Hey Pugz, thanks for a great ride. Can't wait for you to post up a new and interesting Newb ride. (no pressure ) Thanks to everyone too who showed up. I'm still amazed that we can get such a large group of polite friendly people who all love the same thing.

Thumbs up Hey.... that was a fun day, grasshoppers

I enlisted another buddie of mine to join us for the Sat Aliso ride. We parked at the main parking lot, I signed in and we scooted up the canyon to meet everybody at 8 am. With so many riders, I thought it would be a good move to try and slpit up into smaller groups so I took a group over to Disneyland. Most of the other 10 riders hadn't been there before and really enjoyed the sweet single track that leads to the point. Snaped a group shot (sorta foggy) and back we came.... down Meadows, up Dripping Cave, Coyote and back. When we got to Cholla most decided to go back while a few brave souls joined Mike and me for another trip up Cholla and down Rocket.

Technical note: I was riding my Blur for a change and couldn't understand why the fork (Fox100X) felt so funny.... it was only after Rocket that I discovered that the rebound dampening was all the way closed and I basically had a rigid fork once it packed up... Rocket and rigid just don't go together!

Anyway, great to see many old friends and meet and ride with new ones... Looking forward (as always) to the next STR happening.

I'll be working the Traverse at the top of Holy Jim next weekend. say hello when you go through.

What about a list of things you've done recently so we recommend something fresh?

It's supposed to warm up soon; El Moro would be nice with the ocean breeze...?

I'll start a separate thread so I don't hijack this one.

Sounds good to me. I've been to el moro a few times...back in the mid nineties. So it'll be like a new trail all over again.
