After the Ride at Thunder Mtn, we went and spent an Hour or so at Gooseberry that same afternoon, just to finish the day off. The next day, Sunday, we headed back to the Goose for a fun ride.
I need to say that the reputation of Gooseberry is well deserve. This is one fun trail. Not fast, but definitely a slow technical trail. Not a place you want to take your eyes off the dots for long, or you could quickly end up somewhere you may not want to go! Having not ridden slickrock before, this took me by surprise. The traction was awesome! Once I realized that the tires would hook up and hold, I was able to do thing that I'd never done before. Slow full body english rides... The views a spectacular, the company I was with ( Herzalot, and his brother Tom) made this ride memorable, as did the riding and views. If Thunder Mtn is in the top 10 for views and flow, I'd say this trail is right next to it. Two thumbs up!! Remember; TRUST THE DOTS!! Sign at the trail head. I'd send these guys some $$ for the ahrd work they put in. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Aha! ...that trail looks familiar. Thanks for refreshing my memory. Too bad it's not closer, eh?

Gooseberry is awesome! Not just the riding, but the fireroad going up is like a football field wide.....I remember hitting the 4x4 button in my Bronco and getting sideways on some of the turns. If you like the Gooseberry trails, get someone to show you Flying Monkey also.

Thanks for the RR. I have ridden Gooseberry only twice. And it is one of my favorite areas to ride. It's such a blast to just play hitting rollers, ledges, steep rock face climbs, all day long and yet barely actually climb any serious elevation. I rode for 7 hours the first time I rode there, I just didn't want to stop. I will be planning a trip out there later this year in the fall. I usaully stay in Springdale, that's a great little town.

We stayed in Huricane, but didn't have a reason to stop at the shop, although one of the other riders wanted to have a fork installed he brought along. |
