We were at the trailhead, but elected to go up this section instead to see waht was up there and I wanted to ride it anyway. Plus, we were pretty tired from the ride in the morning and it looked like Holy Cross was going to be an "E" ticket kinda ride. We may do it Sat.

Ya, that food was sooooo good. I'm so full I feel like a lead ball. I plan on burning all those calories tomorrow.

This morning was about 55 deg but warmed up to about 75. Then the clouds came in and the sun was gone which is why you see me with a wind breaker on. The afternoon ride was nice, about mid to upper 60's. In the late afternoon, the wind really starts to kick up though.

Here's a few more from the afternoon ride.

Thanks Jessie. You would love it out here as would everyone else. Different dirt is always nice especially when it doesn't involve much climbing and has endless amounts of singletrack that flow for miles. The scenery is just spectacular.

Damn, I'm so green with envy right now. What a beautiful looking trip you all are on! The Tandoori chicken looks delicious. I love Indian food but man, that curry has a way of haunting you post meal sometimes.

Good stuff! Thanks for taking the time to post an RR and upload time consuming photo's and videos. Much appreciated!

Yup, the elevation is great for training. we've been riding above 5000 ft, still not too high but it isn't sea level and you can really feel it, my lungs will be ready. I just need to keep the climbing in a much bigger gear cause we haven't done any sustained climbing on our rides so far.

Lord help me.... I need to take my heart medication. This thread on Fruita is waaaaaaaaaaay better than Viagra for this old man. I'm lusting for a trip to The Promised Land of mountain biking.
Amazing, simply amazing, how beautiful the single track is in that area. And to think I drove through there last June. before I was even a mountain bike owner... Sad, really sad, what I didn't know at the time. I'm a Fool.

Default Excellent RRs guys and girls

One of the neat side benefits of STR is the great RRs that are posted... and this one is one of the best. I think this will open the eyes of a lot of riders to the beauty of this area. I had always thought Moab was THE place... Fruita has joined its ranks.

But, if you can't go, then live vicariously through these photos.

Extra thanks grasshoppers for all the time and effort of posting these... I know how long it sometimes takes ... but well worth it for the rest of us stuck at home in SoCal. We'll be thinking of you guys tomorrow at Aliso Woods... seems pretty small right about now!

Have a safe trip back!
