Default Cinco (+1) de Mayo aka May 6th Taco Tuesday

Fun ride albeit a bit cooler and slower than normal. Great seeing a few new faces and SheDevil back at it after a week off. Ride is always good for a few celebrity sightings and this week didn't disappoint with J Sims, Julia12+1 and her Moms (Ezzyride).

Typical loop started casual sans encounter a "friendly" hiker and toto on the lake loop.

Real fun began with Dusty electing to put on a flat tire repair demo for all. tha girls got skillz

Ridge run was fun and fast as usual

Hard to believe it but Peters may be the next fully loop with some near misses and some nasty carnage.

Names will be held back to protect the innocent but lets just say a mrs. hmmmm, beilzibub(sp?) threw down a nasty tail grind (without dropping) on a borrowed sled and a "new guy" elected to test the tension in the cable wire between two metal posts planted in concretemad crazy bounce, dooood. ouch x2!

Always the moron (yes me) I forgot to pull out the camera for J laying down some schmooooov steps ups and wheelie drops on the concrete platforms during hang time...anyway he was rolling 29's so those big'ens roll up/over anything right?

everyone did great and glad to see all made it in one piece during the ride even with the aforementioned "events".

Sorry i had to run before viddle time but the little guy is sick at home and got a call from momma bear suggesting he wanted his pops.

Some pics from the ride..
  • Warm up to the park
  • back off it's my park
  • Stevie lending a helping hand (after dusty did the dirty work )
  • atop the hill -waiting to charge it
  • Permagrin - fast and furious
  • SheDevil being following in fast pursuit
  • Julia and her sweet DJ
  • Hmm, rumor has it that pole was straight just a few minutes ago
  • Just look at the bodily language...translation PAIN

That was a great new face turn out again!!!

Dusty swapped her tire as all the guys stood and watched (it's part of the skills clinic at Peters....we like to do a little teachin') Here's a pic of her coming down the back side of Big Red on a flat front tire!!

Lots of regroups....and some fun times....and then my rail slide, foot pop, slam my shoulder into the pole maneuver, but I didn't go down(tg)....and while busy assesing for paint scratches, Chariots of "Sweet monkeys this is going to hurt" comes flying into the wire line behind me!!!

Apparently....he was in "prevention mode" before he hit the line...it wasn't a true clothesline effect however he bent the pole and was laying under it in a pile when we all (carefully propping our bikes against something and checking for balance) went running over. He was okay once he got his wind back...and he held most of the conversation on the climb out...he'll feel it tomorrow (sorry man)!! He said it really scared the s#*t out of him...good thing I had my camera ready!

All in all it was a great ride....it's always new and changing!!!! It was nice to see Ezzyride and Julia out there with us....and finally I get to meet another "Dirty Girl" Permagrin!! Hossjr is way cool and did awesome out there as a new guy back on the dirt, hope you come back next week! Of course Kid, Stevie and the group are staples in our show now Thanks to Jeff for letting me slide, I mean RIDE the Salsa....that paint missing BARELY shows through all the mud

Nice riding with you Shedevil and nice riding with Dusty. It was a cool group you had last night. Julia had fun and is looking forward to riding with everyone again.

Jeff I think this was my first ride with you, now I can say I actually rode some with you.

Next time I'll do the entire ride with you all didn't want to hold anyone up. You guys took way long anyway.

Hope more newbies join this ride lot's of cool people and no pressure.

dude that was a HUGE bounce

heard you drop right behind me and turn to see a static body just laying there on the ground

glad you got up although a lesser man (or smarter man ) would have sat there a lot longer and got some real TLC from the hottie dirty girlz

hope you are feeling better and you are game for rd2 in near future

besides we all have to go back to have Dusty lead us down "Chonie" trail

Default The mornign after....

Did I sleep well, as long as I didn't move

So to recap the crash details.
I was following KidA, I think, as we dropped the last single track before the main fire road back out the park. I had been doing good, cleared a few switchbacks with not foot taps, so my confidence was up.
Dropped the last bit of rough track before needing to make a hard right to avoid the Railroad Ties and the Fence (The bent one above). This being my first time on this trail, I didn't realize that fence was there until I was less that 20 feet from it.
My reaction, normal reaction right? Slam on my brakes...Bad choice. My bike stops, but I sure don't. So I'm OTB in a nice front flip motion and heading for the fence with my feet in the air.
THIS IS GOING TO HURT....BOOOOOOOM!!!!! I hit the ground.
I tucked and tried to role, but all it did was put me square on my back. I landed on my camelback and somehow on the fence. Fence posts apparently do bend with enough force.
After lying there breathless for a few moments, my desire to stand is immediate. So with the help of my STR friends I am able to get up.

No broken bones, But I feel like someone ran a Battering Ram into my left shoulder blade.

Check out the link below. JSims says I need to change my name.

Default Dr.'s Visit Update

Stayed home from work today and headed over to see Dr. Yan at Kaiser. Prognosis was clean. No breaks or fractures, just bruising and strains. He said my Neck and Upper back were strained. Gave me some Meds and I was off.
Still hurts like the dickens to pick stuff up or get in the car.

You live and you learn......

Well, According to Hugh, driving between the 909 and Orange is to far. I guess we'll have to work that out another way.

I saw you guys out there yesterday as well. I figured it might be the STR group but did not say anything. I was thinking of joining the ride and making it my first offcial STR ride but got out of work later than I wanted to. I think that passed by just after the carnage. You guys were regrouping as I was coming down. I was on the Orange Blur and was being cheered on down near the bottom. I will have to meet up on the trail sometime. I have never officially done a ride but have seen STR groups out there.

I must be in la-la land because I completely missed this thread . It definitely was a good ride and I'm thinking of making it a weekly habit without so much carnage, if you please.

Met some (more) cool people including Dusty (my new hot weather friend!), SheDevil, Stevie all the others that since it's been over a week now I can't remember the names, but I DO remember the taco's and the guinness. Glad Chariots survived the fall with no broken bones, but I have to wonder if he did it just for the meds??
