Default Moab Road Trip Day 6: Porcupine Rim

I had arranged for Coyote Shuttle to pick us up for the Porcupine rim shuttle. Pick up time was 8AM. It was early and cold!!

Getting dropped off at the top:

I'm not sure of the exact temperature at the top, but it was COLD!!! There was snow on the ground and the puddles were frozen over:

A short regroup at the beginning by the closed UPS trailhead. We rode on and picked up LPS later:

Great views are everywhere:

Passing the bikes down Hang Nail:

On trail:

Wow, what a ride and what a trip. Tomorrow we load up and head back to Cali'. I can't believe it's already over. Six of the best riding days of my entire life!! A close knit group of friends, encouraging each other on, offering encouragement on the tough stuff. Helping each other push are own personal limits. I've ridden tech features on this trip I never dreamed I would be riding.

The rides, the trails, the camaraderie, the sketch, the fun, the laughs, the jokes, but most of all--the friends!! Thanks Jeremy, Ben, Sean, Mark, Evan, Mark and John for one of the best weeks of my life!! It was a blast.

Thanks for the RRs! It's the next best thing to being there. I know it's a pain in the a$$ to take all those photos, post them, and write about them and I really appreciate the effort. Next week I head to Fruita and hopefully I'll have wireless so I can post RRs.

Thanks. Staying up late every night posting the RR's and fighting our campground's finicky wireless signal has been a bit of a chore, but well worth it. I'm glad I did it. It also let my non-riding wife back home follow along with the trip as well.

Again, thanks to my riding partners for their photo contributions. A lot of what I have posted here are their photos. I couldn't have done it without them.

Wow, you're not kidding. If was in any of your shoes, I'd feel the same way. Looks and sounds like a trip of a lifetime. Nothing like good times with good friends. Drive home safely now and thanks for taking the time to do daily RR's. That was very cool!

Porcupine Rim - My all time favorite trail. Last time I did it was in June of 2001. Those pictures bring back good memories.

We were also told by the gal from Coyote Shuttle that work is starting summer 2008 for the rerouting of UPS due to the sensitive nesting of some birds (but didn't catch the type, falcons perhaps?) So it will be at least another year before trying the new UPS trail.

Question There's something about Moab!

Great shots guys! You know that Moab is a special mystical place... it has something to do with convergence theory... all I know is that when I go there I feel that place has a magical feel to it... I know it's not about the mountain biking as I've gone there to climb as well (some of the best crack climbing in the world). Yu feel when yu first drive into town. The indans have always deemed this a sacred place. Maybe that's why the people you go there with usually remain close friends.

You grasshoppers have a safe trip back!
