I was in Las Vegas over the weekend and hooked up with some of the MTBR Nevada board riders for a ride at Cowboy trails there. Unfortunately, after about a 10 yard ride in the parking lot my DHX-Air suffered the dreaded stuck down syndrome. What a pisser.
The boys about to leave without me. Last edited by CalEpic; 02-12-2006 at 09:40 PM. |

Man that sucks. I had never heard about it and did a quick search on google and got a good number of hits. Good luck with that!

I'm headed out to Vegas this weekend and plan to hit up Bootleg, going to bring my spare romic for the 5Spot just in case my RP3 decides to get
stuck down. This might seem like a stupid question but have you seen or heard of PUSHED shocks having stuck down problems or is it just the stock Fox shocks experiencing this problem? Hope you get the issue resolved quickly. |

Yes I have read of a couple of Push'd RP3's getting stuck down. There were a bunch of bad seals according to Fox, but this can be prevented with a little trick that I've done on my DHX-air that some guys from the Turner board suggested.
I didn't have a stuck down shock but had a bad seal in my DHX air. Fox sent me a new seal kit and I put all new seals/bearings in it myself and used the oil on top of the piston trick and my shock works better than it did when new now. Just do some searches on mtbr, lots of info there. |

Bummer about your shock. I rode those trails (solo) this past November, and they are sweeeeet! I got a really good 'topo' map from a local shop that I scanned, so if you're heading back out there anytime let me know and I'll email you a copy. The map is very accurate (especially the description about 'Bone Shaker' - min. 6" travel required), and it's completely do-able if you're by yourself.

After a year on the Push's RP3 no problems yet so hopefully i'm free and clear. But I'll do a search and read over those threads anyways. ![]() |

A couple of the Vegas boys ride Bone Shaker on hardtails. One on a Superlight another on a Maverick 5", Yeti 575, etc. It's a tradeoff on climbing and descending I guess. My shock is fixed now. Very simple and quick fix. Thanks go out to Rob for talking me throught it. If I had to do it again, 15 min's max. C |
