SDMBA’s Los Penasquitos Volunteer Trail Maintenance Day Saturday, April 26th 8am to Noon Project: to reclaim the steep/rutted old fire road leading down to the Duck Pond on Cobblestone trail by converting it to singletrack and repairing damage to the “horse steps” at the base. All sanitizing will be supervised by El Dooderino, Director of Pavement and Escalators. Two Meeting Places: 8:00am: Parking lot at Pro-Built Wheels, event sponsor. The address is 4206 H Sorrento Valley Blvd., San Diego, CA 92116 and the link to a Google Map is here: There will be a post-work BBQ and trail ride at Pro-Built, so this is a good place to leave your car/carpool to the site from. 8:30am: Trailhead area on Del Vino Court. If you’re late or just want to drive straight to the trailhead, we’re all parking on Del Vino, right where the fences block off what will become Carmel Mtn Rd. The link to Google Maps is here: If you’re “late”: don’t worry about it, but hike down Cobblestone Trail to the duck pond (there isn’t room to stash bikes or tether horses, so please do walk) and jump in with those already working. What to bring: sunscreen, a hat, bug repellant for the black flies at the pond, water and work gloves. If you’ve got a trail tool you like to use, bring that but mark your name on it with a Sharpie. Who’s invited? You are! Hiker, Biker, Runner, Horseback rider…all are welcome. Come out and help your neighbors make a better trail out of a rutted mess. Questions? email SDMBA’s “Los Penasquitos Guy”, Mike Maio at 8x8-792-7600 or post here.

Hey, who were the guys we met when they rode down The Shits on Friday morning while we were out there planning the trailwork?
Wait until you hear what we came up with and that the Ranger is 100% behind it. (Okay, she may not know about the fiberglass rocks and muzak, but the rest of it, yes.)

I've seen the multiuse conversation going on. I'm not a big fan of Celine Dion. How about Michael Bolton? I celebrate the guy's entire catalog. For my money, it doesn't get any better than when he sings "when a man loves a woman". I was told there'd be handrails too.

Harden The F*** Up!!

But didn't you try to start it up in the LPQ news thread?? Lpq News

![]() ![]() Seriously though, I have only ridden it 3 times--the last being on my SS. No I did not dab or dismount. However, it was before the rut was down the middle I guess. When I was on my SS, you could go right down the middle, no rut. As long as it's being paved, can I request a handrail too?? I'll be in Moab too. Which is good, cuz I want no part in the blatant sanitization of the Sh!t$. (the above sentence is 100% sarcasm. Please do not quote it and then proceed to spend 5 paragraphs telling me what an ass I am. I am already well aware of said "ass" condition. Thank you).

el_d00der1n0, your famous, one of the SDMBA members mistakenly cut pasted EBasil post word for word and sent it out to the SDMBAtrail news, so the line, “All sanitizing will be supervised by El Dooderino, Director of Pavement and Escalators” was included in the SDMBAtrail,
I have now idea how it happened.SDMBA apologizes and we hope this incident has not scared you for life.

I see that! Well, I am honored to take such an esteemed position. I've only had the opportunity to sanitize Daley with Minette and Sycamore with Gardner so far. I will look at this as a challenge: how can we safely place the escalators so that nobody's harmed?

Hey, I just heard that Moab has been closed for the weekend, so you guys should just stay and come to the trail work day. Lucky thing, too, because the trails out in Utah s.u.c.k.
Check out the technicolor diagram of the intended singletrack conversion of the rutted slope. You can also see some idea regarding the turn leading to the steps, but the step repairs aren't shown. Mucho trabajo, no? Claro que si, but it should be worth it. Let's make something we can be proud of.

I was using it to teach my friend, a new rider, how to modulate his brakes and stay balanced on the bike (heavy on the pedals, light on the bars and seat). I've sent the trail work notice around to my circle of riders. I'll be entertaining out-of-town guests. |
