I had to work yesterday so couldn't partake in the trailwork festivities but planned on going on a ride this afternoon to check out Lombard Street. Guess that will have to wait until next week! |

sooo... after a couple months of not riding this section i hit it today. sorry guys, i gotta say that trail is absolute sh!t now. it used to be fun coming down that section and now it's a powdery mess after the "Trailwork". I went down it once not to long after it was changed and almost killed myself coming over the hill and finding 40 turns in 100 feet of downhill that i wasn't expecting but today i was just wondering why a fun trail was destroyed.
i appreciate people putting in time where it's needed, but that trail was just fine for, like, the last 8 years i had ridden it. |

Let us know "where it's needed", and what time you're setting up the work for.
That trail sure could use some water.

I went down it today with Dan, and it's ALL loose. Not sure how to fix it other than have people haul a bunch of water out there or something. I can't see a horse going up or down it. I would have taken a picture today if I had my camera, because its in pretty bad shape :-(
I'll take a picture next time. I think its worse now than when it was rutted.

The ultimate solution is to reroute sections of the trail to a more sustainable grade, I believe that will be the objective this coming winter during the rainy season, maybe EBasil or Mike Maio can confirm this.

In the short term, we can get the pump back out there one early saturday, and wet the thing down real well. That soil is so bad.

not to beat this one down, but what if we just scooped all the powder off the old rutted out fireroad that was there before the trail work and kept it the way it was? it was fast, fun, and technical before it was modified in my opinion.
the other thing that would get me out there shovel in hand would be a section of doubles and step-downs going down it?? |

The trail was sweet after the trailwork, rideable up and down but has since become a sandpit and it gets worse every week.
The best solution would be a reroute all the way to the top of the Mesa, more fun to ride and better sustainable. (slim chance) In the mean time let's dump water on it again. Just let us know when and the volunteers will be there... |
