Default The Goose is loose!

Looked like everyone had fun at Idyllwild and I was a little bummed that I missed it. We hit the Goose instead. We were a little worried earlier in the week because there was a 60% chance of rain on sunday which would ruin the ride for that day and probably the next couple of days due to the slick rock. NOT!!!

We took off early saturday morning and arrived around 2pm Utah time. Can you see Lor?

Even the scenery to get to Hurricane, UT is AWESOME. Virgin River Gorge

New dirt for most of us so we were just happy to be there and didnt care what trail we were going on.

Gooseberry Mesa - day 1

Tim still in flannel mode

OpusKat JRA

Toby on a roller

LOR JRA

Grandpa through the woods

The views from the mesas were outstanding and like several other places must be seen in person to be appreciated.

South Rim

North Rim

Shadows getting long. Time to get some frosty IPAs and then a trip to Lupitas as bajamtnbkr suggested.

Little Creek Mesa in the morning/afternoon day 2

Tim thinking about hunkin it

Jem in the late afternoon.

Jem was a mostly downhill flowing singletrack much different slick rock from Gooseberry and Little Creek.

Default Zen

Zen / Fluffy Bunny - day 3

warned us that some of these trails/trailheads were a little confusing to follow and he was right especially on the inner loop of Little Creek. We retained the help of a local named DustyDuke to help us out on day 3. He took us up Zen and down a trail called Fluffy Bunny.

2 mechanicals this whole trip. Todd had a busted chain on Little Creek and unfortunately Tims rear hub became a freewheel both forward and reverse, so his day was done and didnt get to finish Zen.

This whole trail was a bitchin tech-a-licious singletrack but one section was a little harder. It drops down then takes a 45 degree turn to the right and then it drops again but you have to thread the needle through 2 rocks(Oh yeah its steep too). Dusty cleaned it on his first try on a hardtail no less. It took me 2 tries and I think Toby has a movie or a pic of it.

Lor gives it a go but dabbed.

Hopefully ODB & grandpa will post pics and a RR from the second half of day 3 and also day 4.

Its in St George and it was a biyatch to find. They are developing like crazy there, so streets that arent on the map are there now. Hopefully the trails are safe so that if you want to try it next time theres no house sitting on top of it.

Glad you like Lupita's, you made it to Hurricane by 2:00 pm so how early you took off? Isn't at least a 7 hour drive?
I loved the JEM trail, we did it combined with the Gout(sp) loop.
Great RR and thanks for the pictures

Thanks Noel for the write up and pics. The trip was a blast. My mind was willing but the body was week after all that riding. After you and Tim left we drove out to the Red Bull course and went off everything their, it's easy. We were in awe. We then hit the Guacamole trail for a quick ride and ended our day 3 a little earlier than the first two. When is the next trip???
