Default Jeff and Ted's big adventure in Simi

A cold brisk breeze was blowing this early morn yet they went out and pushed onwards and upwards until the descent back to reality.

Ride Time - 2:07:23
Distance - 12.5

Enjoy the pics from our ride.

“The Windmill” – the beginning of the end of your legs

Straight ahead you get shot. To the right your legs get shot.

The end is nearing but no where in site since we were in the clouds

After a painful climb and a short descent we were finally at the top of Hummingbird and a well deserved rest. Note the truck? They were shooting a Jeep comercial.

Looking down at the start of HB

Jeff starts the descent

Ted powers it up a short climb at the beginning of HB

Jeff clears the first tech section

Starting into the switch backs, son shows dad how to do it

Where’s Jeff?

There he is !!

Where do we go now?

Jeff and Ted getting’ ready for the slick rock

Ted clears the slick rock and tech section after

Half way down the rock we see Ted and Jeff waitin’ for me to get goin’

Jeff goes for the squeeze play

Ahhhhhhhhh, the ride is done.

Matt was the designated paparazzi for the day, but I have a few to add.

After a nice warm up through the canyon bottom, the harder part of the climbing begins innocently enough.

Looking back down at the canyon we rode in through.

Matt heads into the chunk.

Matt getting some shots Ted.

This ride had good bits of everything. A nice fire road warmup, the requisite steep fire road climb. Nice rolling FR across the ridge. Some nice bits of singletrack and plenty of techy stuff for those inclined.

Thanks for posting this ride. Two thumbs up from us.

Man, it's been years since I've done Chumash up and Humming Bird down with Johnsons MW as extra credit. Although I don't think you all went up Chumash. Either way, it's all fun. I need to get back over there soon. We can hook something up. Thanks for the RR and the pics. I miss riding in see-me!

When ever you want to give it a go shoot me a pm or post up a ride. Just beware I am a slug on the climbs.

Let me know, I am always up for riding these hills.

We encountered a hiker who was walking up, she asked if we were going to take the "normal waking trail" or the bike trail". You could tell she was not "into" cycling but knew exactly what the "other" paths were and how they got there. ok rant over for now.

We went up Las Lajas fire road and veered right at about 3.5 miles to climb up to the ridge. Once on the ridge we headed toward Rocky Pk., passing by the top of Chumash on the way. Matt can probably 'splain it better.

Man, I basically do that ride every couple of days or so (but go down Chumash) and have got sort of bored with it. You're pictures remind me of how lucky I am to have such great riding in my area.

I was out that later that day when they filmed the jeep commercial. They had a helecopter cruising around with lots of camera equipment on it. Cool stuff. I think the commercial was for the British market, as the plates on the two Jeeps they were filming had British plates (I could be wrong) Didn't see if they were RHD or not though.

You could do it the other way, up Chumash, down Las Lajas OR down HB or you could even take Gina's single track down.

You on the East or West side of Simi?
I see a guy roll into his garage every few days.

Yeah, lots of good routes to take to mix it up a bit. Johnsons down to Chattsworth is another good one.

I live around the hospital on Alamo. Sort of halfway between Long Canyon and Santa Susanna. Nice and convenient!

Not you I guess, we are off Kuehner. Have you ridden up Albertsons FR?

I want to hit that up as soon as my new ride arrives and take it over to Chesbro.

Yeah, I ride up Albertson all the time to the little looping singletracks that cross up at the top, but have never ventured into Cheeseboro. I've been riding my road bike too much lately. Its about time I hit up some more dirt. Too much of that and my decending skills start to suck. Send me a PM if you want to head out that way.

What kind of bike did you order?

Man, I'm like Joe, I haven't rode that in years. We used to hit it every couple of months, it's a distance from Fontana, but I'd still like to hit it again.
