Total distance for the ride was was 13.3 miles with an elevation gain of 2,550 feet. This trail was a blast. Some technical sections but nothing to major. We had a great group: leader Nintense, Epicriderat, Grandpa, Dino Brown and I think Greg. All strong riders and a fun group. Unfortunately no cameras, just joking and riding.

My apologies to everyone for not bringing my camera!
![]() The ride was an absolute blast!!! The trail we rode was called THIRD TUNNEL. The reason for the name ( I presume) is the fact (after exiting the freeway) once you see the "THIRD" Tunnel, you're there! For those who don't know, the trail is part of the famous BACKBONE TRAIL. Seconds after leaving the parking lot (Kanan Road), we were greeted by what can only be described as a lung buster of a climb- no warm up! For the next 20 minutes, we climbed up and down the canyon. We saw it all, trees, rocks steam crossings etc. And then it happened! After a brief break, Nintense (one of the best riders I have ever ridden with) looked at me and said something to the effect, this next section will be fun." He was referring to a five minute rocky, loose, sandy, technical, lung buster climb. After a minute or two of climbing, I congratulated him on a job well done! Little did I know, the worst section was ahead of us. I walked it! Nir did not!!! ![]() For those who are familiar with the area, we started at Kanan.... rode to Newton Canyon...... after the big saddle, we dropped into Solstice Canyon..... we ended up at Corral Canyon parking lot! From there, we rode to an area called THE ROCKS- absolutely beautiful!!! A few more pedal strokes and we were at "THE WINDOW." Picture a giant rock formation with a hole cut out! ![]() As I stated earlier, NINTENSE is one of the most talented riders I know! Burner made mention of the "interesting" line taken (in the jump picture). Insane may have been a better choice of words. He jumped cross path.... on sandy boulders.... while being led into an UGLY landing! He did it! A few minutes earlier, Epicriderat had Nir roll an un-rollable ledge/rock/spine just east of the window! OMG! ![]() The ride would not have been as enjoyable if not for my Homie's: Nintense, Epicriderat, Grandpa, Scott V and Greg! When are we going back? ![]() Surprise of the day..... Crossing paths with Muddy Edgar. A few minutes after that, we crossed paths with a few STR locals (IMPY, JimN, Traci and Adrienne). Proudest moment of the day: Three guys passed us (while descending- opposite direction) and asked if we were with the SoCalTrailRider's group!!!! I wished they would have stopped- not the best place to get off the bike....The guy who sent NIR the image was someone we met along the way. I am fairly certain we will be riding with them again! Four new recruits! ![]() Funny/Sad moment of the day: Literally 50 feet from the parking lot, Grandpa was descending a steep/rutted/loose section. He found a rut and went Over The Bars (OTB). Everyone walked over, we thought he was OK... and then the outside of his shin began swelling... and swelling. Looked like a golf ball was sticking out of his leg! Ouch! Grandpa decided to stay off the bike this week! Glad it wasn't serious! Each time I ride the trails of the Westside, I leave telling myself, "WHY DON'T I RIDE THEM MORE OFTEN?" Won't say that again.... next ride is already in the planning stages. Hope "YOU" will join us! P.S.- If anyone has images of the trail (from a past ride) it would be most appreciated if you posted a few of them! Would love for STR members to get a "feel" of what the trail has to offer!! Thanks....
