Default San Juan, Bottom area to Sapporro Rock

A Good Friday indeed!

Since I was off today, Rob and I decided to hit San Juan. The trail was nearly empty, we only saw one group of 4 heading up a few minutes before us, one bubb coming down, and then on our way down we saw one bubb and then one girl climbing up.

The overall conditions out there were fantastic. The lower s/b's are in great shape, the upper ones are their usual selves...dry, chunky and loose. Looks like some fresh trail matainence had been done, the fresh clippings were sprawled along the trail. Temps were nice, not too warm, not too cool, a nice breeze was present the entire time.

We didnt snap too many pix, but we packed a couple of Sapporo tall cans to enjoy once at Cocktail Rock.

Enjoy...I know we did...

cheers

I hadn't been to San Juan in ages so it was nice to ride there again. The trail is in really good shape, especially the lower switchbacks.

Bret forgot to mention the girl climbing up as we were heading down was easily the hottest mtn biker either of us has seen. In fact we rolled down the trail a little ways and had to stop and share our thoughts and feelings about the situation....it was grand. We made a valliant attempt to recruit her to STR

I ran across my old friend Stan on the way down also. He sealed up a puncture from a rock in my rear tire and saved the day as usual.

Bad To The Bone was very tasty afterwards and full of noogs. Awesome ride.

If two sweaty bubbs smelling like cheap jap beer were overly friendly with me, I don't think I would sign up for that. If they smelled like SLO pale ale on the other hand.......................................

I was there last friday with a couple of pals, it was my first time and I absolutely loved it.

totally improved my skills at getting back onto the bike on a steep uphill after dabbing.

The descent was incredibly fun, definitely one of my favorite not-super-gnarly descents, and i cleaned all but a few of the switchbacks on the way up and all but two on the way down. good times.

we brought sierra nevadas though.
