Default RR: Chiquita Ridge Exploring

Did a solo run today out on Chiquita Ridge. Didn't think I'd take many photos since I was solo but just couldn't resist. It's down-right bee-autiful out there right now!

That's Sawgrass Trail heading up out of Coto. There seems to be lots of vines growing on the trees since there's so much moisture. I don't remember this from years past.

I won't tell you where it is, but I'd be glad to show you.

Heat will set in about May I'd guess.

I live near here and like riding chiquita, but i've noticed that all that shrubbery is giving my legs some kind of rash or poison ivy. anybody else notice that too?

Some of the yellow flowery plants seems to have sticker or prickers but I haven't received any rash-like symptoms. Don't worry all that greenery willbe brown soon!

Pretty sure this has been posted here before is some form, but watch out for Poodle Dog Bush, which is sprouting up everywhere right now, especially in some of the recent burn areas.

Yeah, me too. They are just little stickers that are penetrating the skin. No biggie, seems to pass after a couple days.

I lived in RSM for 7 years, and started Mt biking there at Tijeras creek and trabuco. Ridden that loop seems like hundreds of times. I Would ride up to Chiquita ridge, however never went in because of a No Trespassing sign.
Is the ridge open now?
I'd like to get back up there to ride and see the area again, ride some new trails.
If your going this weekend let me know!

I was wondering that about this trail. There seems to be a few ways to get in without seeing these signs. Yesterday, a police officer in a SUV was on the fireroad and just said hello. I think this is mainly posted for real troublemakers and not riders who are relatively harmless.
