Default Kernville weekend (no race pics)

First off, again thanks to Jeff and Melanie for the hospitality. Big thanks to all the great riding friends…Lynn, Scott, Andy, Ann, Jeff, Danno, Dell, Nam, and Bret. Three rides three days...great trails…the Kern Canyon Trail is a must do. I will let the pics do the talking.

I had Jeff (jfsh) as a guide so no reason for the GPS…he is a excellent host and guide.

This was my first opportunity to ride up in Kernville. The scenery, the company and the rides were terrific. Thanks to Jeff and Melanie once again for hosting our cast of characters. Some of the usual suspects and few new faces to add to the adventure.

We had very relaxed trip up picking up Bret along the way to join the party. We pulled up at Jeff’s and I could instantly see Scott’s eyes light up as we entered Sherm park.
Nothing like watching the boys playing with their toys. Scott, Jeff, Dean, Dell and Bret played around for a while.

My eyes lit up when I saw Colby and Regan, Jeff and Melanie’s two awesome children. Colby had my campsite all picked out and was very anxious to show me where my tent should go. While the boys played around in the park, Colby and Regan helped me make sure our tent was in good working order.

Whiskey Flats Trail

We managed to squeeze in a little sunset ride on Whisky Flats trail. Got a chance to check out the river and some great big rocks! When we got back we were treated to a great BBQ dinner, thanks Jeff, that’s truly service!

Saturday morning we stopped by the race course and hung out while the guys shuttled the other vehicles down to the end of our trail. Ann and I got to see Allison and Stephanie fly by in a blur at the end of their first race. Congrats ladies for excellent finishes this weekend.

Our ride was filled with ever changing weather, sun, snow, hail and rain. None of it lasted very long and as Annie said it was a welcome distraction especially during some of those big old climbs. It was a fairly challenging ride for some of us more than others but well worth the effort. An enormous bull got a little aggressive with Scott, I hope someone got a picture of him. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a large bull out in the wild before. Note: this bull came after Scott as opposed to the usual other way around!

Sunday we explored another part of Kernville. I wasn’t paying attention to the names or locations so someone else will have to add those details. I loved watching everyone try out the features. I’m still hoping I’ll absorb some of those skills by osmosis. In the meantime it’s fun to be a spectator. We had the full range of stunt takers in our group.

There was the leader of course Jeff - “it’s not that bad but I make everthing look easy” Sherm, Scotty – Mr. Smooth and precise, Andy - Karate Monkey showed off his own unique style complete with the evil giggle. Do it again Dell, tuck and roll Dan-o, Nam I drop all stunts with my RIGID fork! Little Ms. A$$ kicker Annie, she was hitting everything on Sunday. And of course Steppie who did his own share of dropping too.

motleycrew.jpg

Thanks to everyone for a fantastic weekend. I’ve got the bumps and bruises that go along with pushing my limits and having a wonderful time.

I’m resting up looking forward to the next one.

Thanks for the photos and RR's, guys!! Sad that we missed what looks like some killer riding with great friends.

Maybe a repeat later this spring without all the racing, eh?

Any time you can go ride with Jeff, it's gonna be an epic ride worth hauling the camera for photo's, it's such an awesome area to ride in his backyard. :thumbsup

Ah, good times. Was able to finagle a pass for the weekend, and could not have asked for a nicer place to spend it or better folks to enjoy it with.

The lovely and eloquent sheclimbs set a high bar as usual, so I'll skip the RR and jump right to the pics. Cool? Cool!

Good Times in Kernville. Ann and I got up to Jeff's around 10:30pm Friday and started pitching our tent at Sherman Park. We got a chance to catch up with everyone, though we were all tired. The next day was chilly and we started off with some breakfast from Ann. Yumm. I got to meet Reagan and Colby, they were full of energy

After breakfast, we headed over to Keyesville and watched our racers come down the hill. The Manns were rocking the course and I even caught Neil coming down the hill. Soon after we were off to Kern Canyon. I had no idea what we were in for, but it definitely was an Epic in my book. Snow, sleet, rain, sunshine, we had it all. Thank You Jeff and Melanie for being such gracious hosts. Of course, it as a pleasure riding with Step, Scott, Lynn, Dell, Nam, and Dan. Here are some photos from Jeff, Ann, Dell, and Dan. I wasn't behind the camera this time

On Saturday our Kern Canyon trail ride was quite an epic as people have said. We had a little bit of everything. It was a very memorable day on the bike and off. Here are some of my pictures.
