Default Glendora Mountain Road Fire Trail

Also referred to as the Monroe Truck Trail. Rode it solo this morning since I got no response on Fully. Great 8 mile climb (.5 mile to trail head). Last time I did it to the top was in the early nineties when I was in middle school and it was 8 feet wide the whole way. Trail is single track most of the way with some stretches of fire road. Its a long climb and gains roughly 2200 ft with no real break but I cleared it in 2 hours up and 40 minutes down with stops along the way for what I thought was a group of tourists on bikes randomly lying on the side of the trail.

The first mile of the trail is certified badass. Its got lots of rocks, roots and deep water crossings. I had new cleats on today without trimming the sole to fit my pedals correctly...bad idea. I went down a handfull of times in the rocks, ledges, roots not being able to carry enough speed then not being able to get out of my pedals. Ended up breaking my camera so no pictures to post but thankfully I bought the best buy insurance and will take it back today.

There is a sharp 180 and it the straight ahead is blocked by rocks so you know to turn. The climb from there on up is not technical but still single track and still some places that get tight with huge washouts down the side of the mountain.

Mile 2.5ish is a lookout point and also a cut down the mountain for some downhill fun that will drop you back at Dalton.

I contined up and the climb gets steeper then the first 2.5 miles for roughly 5 more miles where the gate is and the highway. Bushes are grown in tight and coming down in the cold causes great pain to the legs getting whipped.

Skinned up knee, 16 miles of good times, sore palms and I have to say its a hell of a ride if you want some fun single track and are willing to pedal up or shuttle if youre lazy. Lots of downhill stuff off the sides too.

The tourist group I mentioned above rode it thinking it was a beginner trail...the first mile is dangerous for a beginner unless they will hike a bike or are on flats and the climb is not beginner freindly in my opinion. The decent would be a nightmare for a beginner considering there are big ruts and several places you can fall off into a ravine and tumble down the mountain.

Great trail. I recommend.

Here are the google and garmin files:

Thanks for the GPS file. This is (yet another) one I've never heard of before. Looks like a butt kicker of a climb, but I'm sure the downhill reward was nice.

Did the group of "tourists" look anything like these clowns:

(I'm one of the clowns) They were out there this morning showing a couple noobies around...not all beginners...I was going to join them this morning and show them around but ended up staying home with the family as it wasn't my weekend to ride . Nice RR.

Default trail maintenance

Did you notice a bit a trail maintenance in the middle section. Yesterday, my friend and I made our first effort at a rolling grade dip. It'll be interesting to see how it held up the downpour it got up there this afternoon.
I may go up early tomorrow to see if modification are in order.

A bunch of pictures I snapped from Monroe Truck Trail one month earlier. This has to be my one of my favorite places to ride in the upper Inland Empire. Always have great rides here.

Hey thebush,

Noticed you drive the same truck Tundra?

I was looking how you mount your bike in the bed. Is that a 2x4 locked in place with the bed notches on the side. If so how is it holding up any movement? also how do you secure the front tire? thanks

Offensive! Its the 626 not the 909 or 951. IE is 20 miles east.

Awesome pictures. I wish I didnt break my camera.

99% of the people who ride it are 909'ers so we will keep this and any other trails we ride in this area as our own!

PM sent with more details. Rack is a cheapy from Performance but it's been great to me. Even with it mounted incorrectly.

Its a weekender only for me. i dont have time during the week for a 3 hr ride and it would be rough in the dark with the washouts, ledges and animals.

Yeah, don't lump us in with those 951'ers!

I think I'll ride it in the daytime to see what it's like before I decide to ride it at night. With my poor vision, a bike swallowing rut would just look like a big shadow.
