The Mt. Pacifico Fire Road which is accessed from near Mt. Hillyer is now open. Rains had washed it out several years ago rendering it impassible.
For those of you who dig the Middle San Gabriel’s know Mt. Pacifico is a very aesthetic place. This road also accesses some pretty cool trails (for, er.. hiking). Other FYI- much of Chilao/ Hillyer single-track still mostly under a blanket of snow. I tried to ride one pretty cool trail and was hiking over snow more than I was riding much of the time. Be another month before it mostly melts out, I bet…. |

It is not inconceivable that the FS has some reason for keeping people off it for another month. Safety evaluation or sumsuch. So I cannot say it is is *officially* open.
But it re-built. And passable. |
