Hi all. I've enjoyed checking out all of your trail pics and thought I'd share a few of my own. I rode the local trail solo this past weekend and took a few shots in the mist. It's a very short 5 mile loop with about 1100ft of elevation gain but it's fun when I'm too lazy to drive anywhere. The fireroad up to the trail is called Haines Canyon but I don't think the trail has any official name. Many thanks to local biker Steve for keeping the trail in good shape!

Park in the dirt lot at the top of Haines Canyon in Tujunga. Follow the fire road on the right up the mountain for about 1.5-2 miles. The trail drops off a bend in the road about 300yds past a closed gate and splits left and right. Both trails are fun and rideable but these pics are from the right hand split. To make a longer ride, continue up the fire road to the top of Mt. Lukens. It's steep and sandy in places, about 5.5 miles and 3000' of gain to the summit.

Thanks for posting your RR and photos. It's been a while since I've been to Haines Canyon. I actually like it up there. That little single track is a tame version of El Prieto. Looks like someone's been doing trail work on it. That's great because the last time I was on it, it was more like a bush whack.
For a little longer loop, you incorporate the trail that dumps you into The Dukemejian Park. The first 3/4 of a mile are just sick. Then it turns into a fun pretty trail with lots of shade. I think it's called The Rim of The Valley Trail.

What should I put here?

There are a couple of trails that we ride regularly up there.... the Rim of the Valley (22 switchbacks, if I remember correctly) and the "trail with no name" which is an old fire road that has grown in and has seen some recent use. There's also the Crescenta View Trail, (from the last switchback on the south face of Lukens).
Jamie, are you referring to Steve F. (slowmotion)? He lives right by there.
