Default Looking for beginner-friendly trail w/barbecue area

Hey guys,
I have a bunch of musician friends. Some of them have come along on rides with me, and are trying to convince the other ones to join in on a ride. I was thinking of planning a day for all of them to get out and ride. Is there a place (preferably in El Lay or Orange County) that has a beginner-level ride along with picnic or barbecue facilities? For comparison, the last few rides I've taken them on have been at the Arroyo (the trail that splits to the left when you're heading toward Brown) and once at Turnbull. That's about the level that we're talking about.

Thanks for your help!

One place I can think of in da OC is O'neil Park in Rancho Santa Margarita. There are a bunch of trails that lead in to and out of that park.

If the weather is nice try Point Mugu State Park (Big Sycamore) a try, located about 20 miles north of Malibu.

I usually park at the beach there ($10 day use fee), but there are grills and such right next to the parking area. Get there early and stake out a spot. Go do your ride and come back to grill and hang at the beach.

That's exactly what I was going to suggest. Can't go wrong with that!

I would suggest Sullivan Canyon in Brentwood for beginners. If they can do Turnbull I wouldn't consider them to be beginners though. Well, at least not in the fitness category. The Arroyo/JPL trail is also a good choice on your part. For the OC I'd recommend Aliso Woods. None of the trails I've mentioned have any BBQ areas, but Aliso has some picnic tables near the trailhead I think.

Be careful here, give them very easy trails with few uphills or very easy grades as it'll turn them off if all they remember is the pain or the fact they had to walk the entire ride. Chino Hills is a good beginner ride, but the Bar B Que areas sux as there's not much shade.

carbon canyon is a good place to ride and BBQ
also if you have done JPL you could BBQ at the park to the north of the dam.
