Quick ride report about kind of a frustrating-turned-great day-sorry no pictures. Plan was to ride in Aliso with Taylor:TOTW-Rockit-5oaks-Stairsteps, and then maybe T&A. Started about 10, parked t the top, taylor needed to change out his pedals to put on his new Mallets. A bent pedal wrench and 20 min. later, realized pedal was welded on (No we did not forget about the left-hand threads). so he put his old cleats back on his shoes. Finally started rolling at 11. bombed Rockit. I got to the bottom, and felt proud of myself-no sign of Taylor-man, must have left him in the dust! after a few minutes-hmmn-something's wrong. I pedal back up a little bit, and there he was swearing at a broken derrailleur hanger! Neither of us had a powerlink to convert to ghetto SS, so we hiked back up. Worst part is, he hasn't ridden in over a month. So I drove him back home, and he lives in North Laguna, so I figured I'd keep driving & park at Ridge Park and continue riding. Decided to go down Rattlesnake, which I haven't done in a while-fell last time and badly sprained my wrist & tore up my elbow. I met a guy who recently moved here and was still learning the trails, and he rolled it with me. No crashes this time! We pedaled back up Deer Canyon, and I was feeling pretty good, not too tired so I decided instead of going back to the car to show him Old Emerald, which is in great shape. Then, of course, another climb. Long story short, ended up being a great ride after a frustrating start (for me anyway, of course I had to call taylor on the way home & rub it in.) Oh, and when I closed my truck tailgate I closed it on my Camelback bite valve so it leaked the whole time I was riding & I could barely drink, and get this- called Laguna Cyclery on the way home, and they don't stock replacement bite valves? WTF?
Laguna Coast & El Moro are beautiful right now, flowers are just starting out. Should be blazing with flowers real soon. oops-realized i posted this in wrong forum MOD EDIT: MOVED TO TRAIL-TALK
