Default RR:O'Neill Date Ride

We had been planning on heading up Holy Jim to show Singletrack Angel the main divide and pick up trash from the VQ/CC as we went, but the Santa Anas were picking up pretty strongly and at the last minute we opted for a cruise in lower O'Neill to escape the winds.

It's not often just (wifey) Singletrack Angel and I get to ride alone so it didn't really matter where we rode, just that we were together.

We cruised through O'Neill through the jungle, Tijeras Creek and Arroyo Trabuco Trails. We ended up doing the Gilleran drop and then down to Waterworks. We ended up exploring a bit and taking alot of photos. Also had several stops to pick up trash careless people had left along the trail.

We were amazed by the intense color and height of the greenery as we rode. Haven't seen it like this in a few years. Many wildflowers were blooming and the mustard is starting to come in strong.

Waterworks was fun as always and is getting so much traffic that it's getting buff like Whiting used to be. Sweet!

We ended the ride with a nice lunch at Jerry's Wood Fired Dogs in Ladera..mmmm! I would recommend a visit to this place.

Can't wait until the next date-ride.

This was an awesome date-ride - Jerry's wood-fired hot dogs hit the spot! The cost in babysitter money for a beautiful ride was worth it. John even showed me a new route today.

Question Wow!

That trail is fast disappearing... the growth is incredible this year with all the recent rains... are we in danger of losing some of these trails until fall?

Awesome RR. Some of my favorite ride are date rides with my mang...exploring the trails and having fun.

Kristine looks like you are turning into a mtb machine with all the riding lately. Look forward to riding with you soon, just not sure if I'll be able to keep up with you anymore!
