Too much fun! hard to believe the amount of people racing/riding on Friday!

Some of those kids (even the super young one's) are TRULY amazing!

I also noted the impressive bikes our STR family members brought to the track. Gabe's 16" BMX bike! A dirt jumper! A 4X bike! And (quite possibly) the most "spot-on perfect" 24" cruiser ever made, Lee's 24" Intense Cruiser!

Don't take my word for it! Ask anyone who sat on it!

Thanks to Everyone for showing up (Ricky, MY Brother, Neil, Tracy, TKBLazer, Evlia, Julia, Steph, Chongoblanco, Meagan, 2 Wheel Lee and his girlfriend etc...

Hope to make it a regularly scheduled event!

I bought a BMX bike just to practice things like wheelies and hops, and was wondering about this Orange Y thing. Is there a practice thing, or is it all racing? Would it be possible to just do the practice without the race?

Yes - You can practice, you don't have to race. Julia12 just rides doesn't race others like Lee, and Ricky have raced.

I really gotta try this sometime, though I don't have the right kind of bike. What's OK to bring?

You can bring you XC bike and just put the seat all the way down. I used to ride my SC Superlight and had a blast. It's good practice for intervals and sprinting.

Cool, do I need a full face helmet, or is it okay to wear one of those skate-style helmets? How about pads?

Skate buckets are fine.

I do believe all you have to really wear is just a helmet, long sleeve, and long pants.

It's up too you if you want to wear a full face or skate style helmet. Most riders are wearing full face helmets. The pads are also up to you -- a long sleeve shirt is required.

Julia12 wears jeans and a long sleeve shirt -- skating helmet. I am working on her wearing the full face.

Thing is, fullface helmets don't really fit my fat head--hey, I'm working on my second Master's degree, so maybe it's just my brain! I have a Giro Remedy that mostly fits, but it pinches the sides of my face after awhile so I dunno if I could wear it for that long. I guess there's always the TLD, and I heard that Fox makes a Rampage in XXL, so I'll have to keep looking I guess.
