Default Riverside Sycamore Cannyon

So I play on going out and playing again this evening... even though my butt is still sore. What is the most beginner friendly trail in there? I entered off of Central So far and both routes have some climbs I am just not able to get all the way up... Yes I am out of shape and working on it just wondering if any thing may be a bit easier on the Alessandro Side? Any input from locals?

I have ridden there several times but still don't know the names of the trails (really hard when they are not marked). We went on the Team Dirty Work ride last night and had a blast.

Most trails there are rolling and some have short steep climbs (all walkable). You're best bet is to tool around during the day and get to know the area first.

I have been out a bit for a total of about 4 hours... Still figuring out the north side... How is the south side?

Check out Oz's route and you should be golden. The Central entrance is the steeper of the entrances. Plus, you have to climb to get to all the fun stuff (Little Moab, Terry's Wall)

Another possibility is this:
http://www.geoladders.com/show_route.php?route=9334
11 miles and about a 1200' feet up.

Don't enter on via cervantes! That's one steep and killer climb....its meant to be ridden backwards!

Enter the park this way from the corner of Central and Canyon Crest:

Go South on Canyon crest.

Turn left on Via Concepcion (after the golf course)

Turn right on Junipero Serra.

Turn left on Via Mindy.

Turn right on Via Las Nubes and ride for about 20 yards......look for the gate on the left across the street from the new house under construction....

When you enter, stay on the trail on the right (the high trail) along the houses. Don't follow the down-sloping single track off the to left....it turns into a nasty climb up ahead....we ride this the other way.

Good luck and have fun.

Well I just got back... Jimminy Christmas your not kidding about Via Cervantes Geez. I ended up entering from Canyon Crest and rode in a little more than a mile and half and came out. I stuck to the southern trails. I felt like I was 50/50 walking and riding and I was huffing and puffing like you wouldn't believe. But I made it.

Sorry you saw my message after you decided to ride up Cervantes......where did you go when you turned around?

A good thing to do while exploring here is to basically just stay on the perimeter of the park....don't enter any of the canyons.....just stay on the edges of the park....later you can venture down into the canyons.

I went out again this evening off of Via Mindy and did around 60/40 ride/walk al the way to the boy scout bench. I took a break and ran into a guy named Andy who was realy helpful helping point be in the right directions. I went down from there on the north fork and dropped into the canyon where I ran into a very steep section I ended up having to walk part of. Killer fun though had a great time!

Nope.....I rode here for 6 months by myself and I wasn't even hitting half of the single-track....you need to ride with the locals to learn the trails (and in which direction to ride them
