Default Movie Report: Earthed-The Laws of Five

A few of us headed down to Laguna last night for Bike Magazine's movie premiere of Earthed-The Laws of Five. We immediately ran into DStepper. It was great getting to hang with you Dean.

We almost filled the theatre. It was a good crowd; it seemed to be mostly industry people though.

If you are into downhill racing in Europe this movie is for you. If you are into DH racing in Europe and watching the same turn in a race over and over again... this movie is really for you. The trails were amazingly tough and we got to watch a ton of crashes, but the movie was no where near the standard that The Collective series has set. There was no trials or urban riding either. One interesting aspect of the movie was getting to watch some 4x races. If you think Fontana has a great course, it has nothing on the Europeans courses!!! Wowzers

After the movie, Bike Mag did a raffle and tons of people won stuff. The winner of the Felt bike frame also won two other times. I guess that is what you get for spending $30 on tickets. Way to go kid! I walked away with a few pairs of socks, a Fat Tire hat and jersey! Sweeet!

Following the raffle most everyone headed to Hennessey's for discounted Fat Tire Beers and low costing Red Bull drinks. I had a blast. B-Lopes made an appearance and hung with us low types for a bit. He kept the shinanigans to a minimum.

The Collective videos are a small group of riders traveling together. The Earthed series typically follows the WC DH racers/races.

Just different types of bike movies!

Can't wait for F1RST, Seasons, and the other movie coming out this year (forget the name).

Thanks for the report!
Even Tumbleweed commented about IronHorse being on the top of the podium. I said Sam Hill is an animal!!! Heather wasn't impressed. She said, "Obviously it wasn't the rider.... an IronHorse rides itself!!!" lol

I knew Dino would have loved to have heard that first hand!

Thanks for the input Allison. I should have mentioned that in the initial report.

Some of the european 4x tracks looked more difficult than the Fontana downhill. The one in Virgo(sp) Spain in particular had 3+ foot drops, with what looked like pile ups on every round.

I do agree it was nothing near the Collective movies though, but really cool to see the racing.

Though Season's and Virtuous are probably more along the lines of Collective/ROAM.

Yeah, both films come out in April, I think. Seems like a long way off now.

I actually was joking with my gf right before they played the movie that it was probably going to be a DVD...low and behold.

Fun night and for a great cause.

Here's why I won't buy this DVD or allow my kids to watch it: People riding without helmets. I know it's "European" and all, but dear lord, it's 2008.
