Default Just got back from Northstar At Tahoe...

I was really impressed with the trails and the company that manages the resort. It is great to see how a ski resort can be run in the summer season successfully that caters to mountain bikers. On a weekday, the placed was packed and parking was difficult to find. The trails are clearly marked with black diamond symbols to denote the most difficult terrain, and even had extra signage on the some of the trails that were really difficult. At the bottom of the upper ski lift was a large bulletin board explaining the importance of not skidding on trails and the proper use of breaks. Additionally, all of the technical single track is off limits to hikers! For a reasonable fee ($47) you can rent a high quality full suspension mountain bike. (ie Kona Stinky, Giant Faith, Giant AC). It was pretty cool to see a normal looking family all coming down the mountain on Stinkys! Its too bad that the people at Snow Summit could not do the same.

Very much so. What was also cool is that you could see that they periodically open new single track after closing down older trails if the trail becomes too beat up.

Sounds like an awesome place! Good to know there are good resort managers. I'll keep tahoe in mind.

I rode Northstar the year before last. Made everything at Snow Summit look like childs play.
