Default SR: Canada

There were twelve of us heading up to ski/snowboard Canada. We left on Thurs morning and returned Tues night. With a total of four days on the mountain, we all tested our abilities. We flew into Spokane, Wa and started driving the rental cars.

We stayed in a little town about an hour North of the border. We stayed at the Ymir Hotel. It had the only bar in town as well as diner.

I'm not sure why the photos are not showing up. Sorry. Try clicking on the box and the image should appear.

Days one, two and four were spent on the cat. We decided not to use a resort or chairlifts; instead we opted for some cat skiing. The twelve of us would hop in a cat and start heading to the top of the mountain. No other skiers/snowboarders are even on the mountain! Wildhorse is the outfitters of choice.

These guys rocked! They knew the area, were safety oriented and wanted to please us. Here is our crew.

Here one of our ladies catches some air.

This is Sara. She is one of the guides. She is also a major photog for Powder Magazine. Those are our lines coming down the mountain around her.

On day four the sun came out and the beauty of the area really came out!

All in all it was a trip of a lifetime. Only one person got any real damage done-possible acl tear. We will see. I really hope the best for him. I tore my calf muscle on day one, but my ski boot seemed to help secure my muscle pretty well. I guess I won't be running for a few weeks....I'm OK with that.

Yesterday, we had a little extra time to waste, so we walked around Spokane. What a beautiful city. Here we found a bike in the river. Maybe its a Chumba???

Ok... back to biking!

Thanks for sharing the pics. I love backcountry boarding... haven't done the cat, just the helicopter ($$$ouch$$$) but worth it.

sounds like a fantastic trip Andy!

how long was the drive from Spokane? I was there last summer/fall, if I had known it was close....

2 1/2 to 3 hours from the airport.

I have to admit, I am sooo spoiled. I never want to be on a chairlift again! While cat skiing is expensive, it was truly unbelievable and worth every penny!!!

I was thinking about posting some pics and brief report on my trip to Park City, but it pales in comparison to your trip Andy! Looks awesome, hopefully get some more of the trip report at Fontana this weekend!
