Laguna Coast WP ride... and I need better forks!

Good morning all,

I just returned from a morning ride in the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park (i'm lucky in living near by the Water Tank trailhead). Today it was up Water Tank trail to Bommer Ridge... it's a cool overcast morning, and it was magical being on the ridgeline in complete solitude, with the aroma of wild sage and the only sounds being my tires on the trail and the occasional birdcall. Then (by Dean's suggestion), down Willow Canyon, instead of Big Bend.

Descending Willow for the first time was a blast, but it proved to me once again how brutal washboard descents can be with old 1" travel forks on my hardtail. Really, my hands and forearms were burning! I finished the ride by taking Laguna Canyon trail and taking Laguna Cyn Rd back to PCH and home.

I've been told that Marzocchi makes a 1" steerer tube fork. Do any of you have any info about this?
