Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!
Looks like a great crew, great trails, and a flawless day for it. Y'all scored!

This needs to be a monthly STR ride.

i really wasn't sure if i was going to do this ride, but i'm really glad i did! i have no idea what the head count was, but we had a big group! Was cool to ride with Justin and Allison again and i was very surprised to see Kentonn show up.. He and I scoped out the skate park while people were getting geared up... that was freakin fun riding around in there!

Alan Radcliff aka Flash(superstar hair dress from The Real Housewives of OC) showed up for his first mtn bike in months and he happened to bring a singlespeed 29er! he wasn't feeling it after that crappy first climb.. at the top of that you can either go right and climb up the trail or hike up another trail to the top. Being the nice friend i am, i blocked the hiking way up and told him to get his ass on his bike and freakin pedal up the damn trail after he shared a few expletives with me, he proceeded to climb up as far as he could and walk the rest... thats all i really wanted him to do, just try climbing up and see how far he could get. Once getting warmed up from pedaling a bit, he seemed to get stronger and stronger.. he was nailing all the climbs and resting up top to let his heart rate come back down, but he did not walk or stop on any other climbs... you rocked it dood! The best was after riding down this steep singletrack trail, he cheerfully shared how he freakin loved riding that bike... later when we ate, he was already talking about selling his 6" 26er and getting a 29er FS

anyhow, awesome ride guys! i alway love riding new dirt and i will definately ride there again as the views were sweet, riding in the meadows were cool and i just want to make this a really long run on sentence.

waiting for Duan

Duan feelin the pain

Thai rockin the new bike

Alan in pain

speedie steve

mike on the cruiser

Alan, Duan and Sam.. Alan wouldn't let Duan get ahead of him all day... some friendly competition

didn't catch his name, but the dood on the Siren bike bombing that steep chute

Duan in top form

I still have a headache, but the good part about landing on your head is that you don't get any scratches on the rest of your body. No cracks in the helmet, but my sunglasses didn't survive - I found the frame but the lenses went flying. If you ever go down Rat's Back and see some black lenses glinting in the sun, they're mine.

I think I need more practice on the Chiquita Ridge singletrack drops...
Glad you're ok Kris. Sorry i missed the ride

Default Where'd all the SSers go??

Probably close to 30 riders showed up this morning and conditions were absolutely perfect. Nice sunny skies, warm temps, beautiful views from the trails. Definitely a spot to go back to.

Gearies outnumbered the single speeders, but I'm pretty sure the gearies only rode in one gear right and it was good to see a lot of the same faces from yesterdays Adrenaline event show up for this mornings ride.

We had Sam, Duan, Ethan, Sam, Kristine, John, Jose, Nam, Steve, Steven, Bobby, Cindy, Peter, Jan, Marsha, Greg, Gilligan, the Skipper too, the Millionaire and his wife, the Professor and Mary Ann...now on to the pics, hope I got everyone.

Getting ready to roll

Duan finally shows up bringing his new 29er SS

Kristine signaling a score

Lots of smiling faces

A little showboating on the way up

Duan leading the peloton

Ethan enjoying his Ti SS

A little roadside repairs. Luckily mechanicals were pretty rare today

Great riding with all of you. Thanks to John and Kristine for pointing the group in the right direction.

Sorry I didn't get to meet all of you, but I'm Mike, guy in the Aloha shirt and cruiser. See you out on the trails.

Default A Little SSing in the Morning!

For all the riding I've done, I'm still surprised at the great trails I have still to ride. Thanks to Foo for setting up the ride and to John for the guidance through some of the best singletrack that I've been able to ride in OC. A big thanks to Christine for playing sweeper and getting us caught up to the rest of the group after I had a flat.

I had no idea what to expect from this ride. I expected a SS friendly ride and all of a sudden were hit with a climb that seemed a bit sadistic for an opening climb. So much for an easy warmup! Probably should have thought of that earlier. I had my fork set at 90psi for the first couple of desents and I couldn't figure out why I was having such a hard time planting the front tire on some of the turns. Dropped it down to around 75 and all of sudden everything got a lot easier to ride. Go figure. Thanks to all for allowing me to follow along on this ride. We couldn't have asked for better weather for the first annual SSFest.

Here are a few photos I took prior to my battery dying.

Getting ready for the pain.

Couldn't have asked for a better backdrop.

Just riding along.

The group stopped along the trail.

The scenery and greenery.

Finally Justin and I got out for a fun ride! It was nice to break up the training regime, but it was still somewhat difficult on dead legs!

Was definitely great to get out and see everyone. Thanks to Nam and Eric for coming out just to see us

Good to meet some new people, and always good riding with STR people.

On to the photos.

Gearing up

Rolling on up

Justin, chilin' on the Dos

Early regroup

Now just enjoy some rolling green...

If you closely, just to the right of center is an arm and a leg. Sorry Christine, didn't get the actual crash

Yeh...two weeks and we'll be up there. Dig it.

In the meantime, the mountains mocked us.

Regroup

Eric SSing up a tough section

More rolling (thought these deserved a drop shadow)

Finally they returned!

Half the riders go up the ridge for some extra credit

Aneurysm of my tire, which was horribly sliced yesterday descending San Juan.

Eric bombing down the ridge

More riders

Looks okay...

Ooh, not so good

Justin

The fearless leader!
