Default San Clemente Single Tracks need help!

San Clemente Single Tracks

One of the first bridges in the SCST area is in a state of disrepair. This particular bridge is one that we all use almost every time we ride there and was installed unselfishly by riders not the State Park. It was also there prior to the popularity explosion this place has found after the fires, where it remained one of the few good places we could to still ride in the OC.

donate and post your concepts and the bridge name to become a part of local mountain biking folklore.

P.S yes, I can already see the pictures of the Golden Gate and Galloping Gertie already

I haven't ridden there yet but want to. I would be happy to help get some lumber. By chance can you post a picture if this bridge so those of us that don't know it can see whats going on? Thank you

The cross members were constructed with OSB, they have deteriorated due to the amount of traffic flow to the point that it is not rideable any longer.

Hey Steve,

It was ridable during this past week (The time I crossed you while you were riding up), but it was just starting to get bad. The crossing bridge is the worst. What we need is some split tree logs which will never break... maybe rot someday.

I'm thinking about something like this (See second picture):
http://www.leelikesbikes.com/Stories/072004/

P.S. - My father lives in Bonsall and owns a Avo grove. I can ask him if he has any cut Avo trees. I know he has tons of firewood which we can use for the cross boards. Avocado wood is very dense and strong. If you live in Fallbrook maybe you can stop by and pick up some for the cross boards. He lives off of Olive Hill Road. If you are interested, I can give him a call.

Some bridge names (in the theme of SC): 204, T-Street, Cotton's, Lowers, Uppers, Barb Wires, Old Man's, and Churches. I like the following names: Uppers, Lowers, and Old Man's (for the crossing bridge).

Thanks,

But I'm stuck at home with the kids and the two year old is too small to drag out there.

Thanks again,

I would be happy to fix or better yet replace the bridge with one that is more robust and has more style but my surplus lumber well ran dry.

I can design, build and install a bridge to my own taste or make a simple utilitarian bridge but that would be a bit boring and not fit the vibe of San Clemente.

What I am looking for is design concepts and lumber donations, but mostly lumber.
So donate and post your concepts and the bridge name to become a part of local mountain biking folklore.

Scott,

Thanks for the offer to give a hand in the repair but I think I have that part covered.
Lumber or a couple of bucks would certainly help though. There is a Lowes on the way to the dog park if that helps.
