Default This one is for you Dean

On Monday I did another great ride. It is tough having a teacher's schedule sometimes. Chris, Dave, Allison, Andrew and I got going early and were on the trail by 8:30. We did the Kern Canyon Trail from Keysville to the bridge. Dean, you asked me to tell you when this trail was getting green. It is starting to now. The middle of March should be great, perhaps a little early for the wildflowers but it will be green.
This ride starts on part of the Keysville XC course but then keeps going down the canyon. It took us about 4 1/2 hours to get to the bridge. Allison's GPS said we did about 22 miles and 3000' of climbing. This is a great, point to point XC ride and is almost all singletrack. There are some sections that have excellent flow. Here are the pictures.

I just started to get some leg cramps at the end. I needed that because I haven't been doing any long rides lately. You are going to like this one Dean.

I remember that trail. During the Fat Tire Fest years ago, we took a boat across the river at the end and then they had a bus shuttle us back. Am I right? It was long ago.

Thanks for the RR Jeff, it looks it was warm out there. You are making it hard to wait another month before heading on up.

It was unseasonably warm here this weekend. It was like Spring. It can get cold again real quick.

Dirtmistress - This could be the same trail. Years ago there was no parking area where we ended our ride. The trail goes another few miles to Democrate Takeout. You probably rode to there. It is an easy place to fairy people/bikes across the river. After getting to the bus you would have driven up a steep dirt road to the highway. Along that section of trail there is a set of stairs that go over a fence to keep the cows from going through. Does that ring a bell?
