Default LCWP & El Moro

I'll get this out of the way now: I didn't take any pictures today. I was out by myself. Sorry.

Anyway, what a gorgeous day to get out and ride! I left home intending to go to Aliso, but driving down the 405 I thought, what the hell, why not try something new? So I peeled off on the 133 and headed over to LCWP. For years this park was an enigma to me, since nearly every time i'd drive by it was closed, and then on some random day it would be open with a packed lot. Always just seemed kinda weird...
Anyway, headed up Willow, which made for a nice warm-up, even with a few little steep sections thrown in. Hung a left at Bommer and then headed down Old Emerald, which was in great shape. Then it was up the evil that is BVD and back up El Moro ridge to Fenceline. Burned on down Rattlesnake at warp speed - the 5 spot just ate up some of the sections that used to give my xlt fits! Flew down mach one, then headed up I think I can and then back up the ridge to Bommer. Hung a left on Big Bend, which was just ridiculously steep. Damn fun though!
Just a great day to be out on the bike. I've pretty much got the 5 spot dialed in for me now, and am loving it more ever time i ride it - it's such a stable, forgiving, confidence building chassis that all i want to do is ride more. Thanks again geronimo - I'm loving it!

Hope everybody else got some sweet riding in today too!

You should have kept going on Bommer Ridge past Big Bend and hit Laguna Ridge or as we like to call it (T&A). It's WAY more fun than going down Big Bend! Next time!

I am lousy with distance but I would guess about a mile. You come around a left hand corner and there is a short climb and then a road that breaks off right and it is just past that on the left. I believe there is a sign.

right on son of steppie! sounds like you had a nice solo mission. i agree with pat, you must hit t&a next time, it will keep ya on your toes, and there are a couple spots you can huck if that tickles your fancy....it is kinda like rattlesnake at the top part, but a little more tech, and much more narrow, and then gets steep and fast and then chunky and stuff.

There's a sign marking laguna ridge, you'll see it at the top of a steep little climb. There's a few parts that can sneak up on you your first time down, so use some caution. It's not quite as sick as mathis but a close second for sure. I'm glad your enjoying the bike. Sounds like your enjoying the coil too. That was a good move IMO. Have you had to change the settings much?

Haven't had to change much -really it's been more of experimenting with varying the propedal, rebound, and bottom out to just get an idea of how each of the adjustments feels different. I've taken to running it a little stiffer that you had it set, and dialling more propedal in for the longer climbs.
I'll be sure to seek out t&a next time i'm out there too!

Figured you be out in the san gabes or something! I'll be in utah this weekend, but lets maybe hit this up again in a couple weeks...

jason- if you haven't already done it, try climbing emerald canyon instead of bvd. once you hit bommer go left to the next gate, cross over into el mo and climb the hill up to fenceline.

Are you sure you're talking about T&A? If so, I would have to respectfully but vigorously disagree with you. Although you won't be able to mach it like you can on Mathis, T&A is much much steeper, narrower, and more technical than Mathis.

Also, when you go up and over that first little climb, T&A is the first singletrack that veers left. If you enjoy that one, next time stay right at that intersection and take the next singletrack on the left. This is called Fine Arts and will dump you out behind the art institute. The last section is pretty fun.

geronimo knows his trails, that is fo sho.

even though that trail off to the right isn't blocked off and an uninformed trail user who is new to the park would have no idea, i believe it is illegal and poaching is bad.

I wasn't sure if they had opened that one up or not, although I see people poaching it all the time. But yes, poaching is very, very bad.

Actually, that trail has been called several names over the last 15 or so years, as has T&A, as have the 2 others that branch off that singletrack (one of which is overgrown now).
