Default RR: Saturday Aliso ride

Great morning just to be out. After all the rain and illnesses floating around, it was nice to just ride in the warm sun for a change. In fact everyone seemed to be out at Aliso this morning. Lots of runners and mountain bikers on the trails.

9 riders showed of at 8 am for todays ride. We climbed Cholla to Top of the World and down Meadows. I took to the fire road out since I had to be at a family function while the rest of the group was more adventurous and climbed Dripping Cave and then over to Coyote and out. Trails were nice and tacky but rutted in a lot of spots too.

Sorry I'm horrible at remembering names so here's everyone:

Up Cholla

Sportin' the NHL lid in style

Julia looking confident

Bit of a break at the top of Rock It

Steve riding his SS up to top of Mathis

Nice blue skies today

Headed to Meadows

One last group shot. Where's Elvia??

Looks like you guys had a great day out there. I'm jealous because I was inside all day working. Thanks for photos to help me "escape."

I finally popped the cholla cherry on the SS. Rode to the top with 2 dabs. 1st was after the steepest rutted portion. I cleaned it, then the front tire wandered to the side of the rut. 2nd was at the rocky left hander that seems to get everyone. When I stopped at the top my quads tightened up like shrink wrap. I guess a warmup would have prevented it. Cleaned the climb to mathis and to the top of the world. But the toughest climb was dripping cave where I felt like it got too steep and I was going too slow to keep the cranks spinning. But I held on and made it to the top!
After the ride I was no more tired than riding a geared bike with the exception of my arms and shoulders. They're as tired as my legs.
We met another SS'er (forgot his name) who rode with us who may join the fold soon.
Overall a great ride and I'm stoked at how well I did.

I just like getting a few pics here and there. I got over a severe bug last weekend myself. I was out of it for about 5 days. Try to be healthy for next weekend, lots of riding going on.
