Have fun out there... I'd join you, but I'm up in Keyesville... had an epic ride out here today. RR to follow (when I have faster internet).

Be careful up there in Mammoth, the internet connections are as fast as the Cougars! Chairlift Cougars are the most dangerous.

I think Newhall Bike Shop is riding Viper this morning. Might be a large group. I am hiking up the fireroad with my son this morning (Bike is in the shop, but I will get it back this afternoon). I will make sure to say hello.

Nothing serious, I hope? Details?

It's hard not to have a good time on that one!

Any updates on trail conditions before I go out this afternoon to sample it? 3:30 pm, look for a white Bionicon Edison.

A guy we met from Team Ape was on a full rigid, said he'd been down Viper on it before. Went OTB on the "signiture" viper vert section, landed on his shoulder hard as he cartwheeled. Looks like a separation or collar bone.....he walked it down to Nature Center with some help from another rider. Made a sling from an inner tube!
Trails not bad, just gotta work around some rutts. I stay all the way to the right on the steepest drop, let go of the brakes about halfway down, and can coast up the other side to within a few feet of the top.
Its gonna be hott! Nice day out. Have fun!

See post #5 I wouldn't do it on a rigid, which is not to say it can't be done. Glad you had a good time.

Yeah, that was a fun ride. Wish a speedy recovery to our one casualty. As always a pleasure to meet new riders.
Gonna pass on the Speedball for now. Here's a few links for the DTSwiss thru axle and Hope rear axle conversion.

http://www.jensonusa.com/store/produ...sion+Kits.aspx

JensonUSA has the axle kit for $25, you want the one that is listed as Pro 2 rear hub qr to 10mm kit.

Default Bring me some rain.

SGV and I from OTBMBC plugged away in the 82 degree heat this afternoon. Fireroad is loose, loose, loose now with lots of energy sapping sugar sand in areas. Lots of MTB tracks up there. We went up to the Forest Service rest stop and re hydrated.

Viper is nowhere near the same as it was last Wednesday when Kanga, El Presidente and I rode it. Skid marks every where, lines from people that completely blew off the trail. What's worse is people are going clear off of the trail and mowing over shrubbery and bushes, thereby aggravating the erosion problems up there, in search of less challenging lines.
Good ride, good company, no statistics.

No, that's a Bionicon Edison with a Gravity Dropper on the right... the Big Guy was just smokin' calories while along for the ride.

L-R. Patrick, Tasha, El P, and Molasses Boy. Photo Props, Kanga, All Kanga and nuthin but Kanga. :Thumbsup
