RR: Fontana Fun Ride 2-5-08

It was a very nice day for a ride and even though it was a bit windy you didn't really notice it a bunch. A few times as we came over a rise we got blasted pretty good but it never really just made it miserable or anything. I met up with DavidB and Speckled Trout for a nice little lap around the Fontana XC course with David and I sort of using it for training purposes. The more I ride this thing the more comfortable I get and I think perhaps I'll do a bit better this Saturday. David seems to me to be really riding well and I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the top podium this weekend. I think Speckled Trout was just happy to be out riding and she's a lot better than she gives herself credit for. She hung right in there with us.

We completed one lap and decided to take a quick lunch break at the Subway and then rode back and did a second lap. To be honest I felt really good on this lap. My legs were a bit tired but I felt really connected and in tune with the bike (The Heckler today) and I cleared all of the climbs for the first time! We all worked on staying off the breaks a bit more on the downhills and I'll bet if we had been keeping time the second lap would've been faster than the first.

Well thanks for a great ride guys I had a blast. Great day, great companions all make for a really nice day off!

The quality of these pictures isn't the best but I found an old HP 2.31mp camera and decided to put it to some use. It's far better than trying to stuff my Digital Rebel in my camelback.
But hey a RR really needs pictures...or so I've heard...so I had to pony up and come through with a few!
