I highly recommend it! Julia may not be smiling on the outside, but she's probably grinning like a demon on the inside!

Someone took it. Not cool... not cool at all!

Funny moment of the day.... (And YES, I am going to laugh at someone else's misfortune).
*** There was a group of 7 or 8 teens who were riding the 4X course helmet-less on their BMX bike. We kept pleading them to wear helmets! One young kid decided he wanted to shoot his mouth off. As he zooms down the third to last berm, (for no reason) he YELLS the words, "HELMETS ARE FOR PUS$IES!" Ohhhhh really! Thirty seconds later, he flies over the finish line and proceeds to eat ROYAL SH!T. People rushed over to him... he was crying... he was stunned... he was embarrassed. SIXTY seconds later, he was on Sharky's phone ASKING HIS MOTHER to bring him his helmet! I asked him why he wears gloves- He crashed once and was pulling gravel out of his hands for a week. I asked him how fun pulling gravel out of his head would feel. Rest assured, he will be wearing a helmet the next time we see him!
Andy Curtis and Bob Burns from SBF hit it like it was a 3 foot drop.

Man those guys are crazy.

I like that little gap thing I tried! That ladder drop and rock drop looks like a blast as well, we need to hit Fontana next time with a small shovel and touch up the drops and landings I'd give it a shot. Now that road gap at Oaks has me really curious..

PUGZIE- I can't wait until *YOU* race! We will all be cheering you on!

Brewmaster- The 4X track is a lot of fun. It's kinda' weird how (at some point during your 4X day) it just CLICKS! Berms become your friend, woops no longer scrub your speed and every spec of dirt begins to look like a jump. Lots of fun Sammy!

Bob/Lee/Ricky- Does the Orange BMX Park have any restrictions/requirements FOR mountain bikes?

1) Would long shorts with knee/shin guards be considered "LONG PANTS?"
2) Short sleeve shirt... elbow/forearm pads be considered "Long sleeves?"
3) What about 26 inch mountain bikes. I am 99% certain I have seen them at the track!

I'm being serious!

elbow pads work , long pants are requiered, because of all the weird new frames they do not enforce the pad rule anymore, 26" is legal to race in the crusier class any given practice race day there is a couple at orange y

That information is out of date.

- Frame, stem, and handlebar pads are not required (that rule went away at the beginning of 2007)
- Any size wheels are OK, including 26" and 29"
- It does not have to be a singlespeed
- ironically, elbow pads and a short sleeve shirt are ok, but I think they may hold you to wearing pants (this varies from track to track, so it wouldn't hurt to ask).

There have been mountain bikes on that track for many, many years, and many 4X racers practice there (except for me - I haven't ridden an mtb there in at least 5 years).

Dino, I won't believe you're serious until you're out there.

By the way, we can rent the track for two hours for $200. If we want to assemble a group and each contribute, we can make this work out pretty well - and no ABA memberships are required for that.

You can wear shin/knee armor in place of pants on BMX tracks. It meets the leg protection requirments as set forth by NBL and ABA and then some.

$200.00 for a the track? YEAH! Does this include use of the gate, Lee?

Lee-
1- I am serious!
2- I tried calling the track- closed until Wednesday due to rain
3- I emailed them the same questions the two of you just answered.
4- Renting the track? Count me in!
5- I do have a pretty nice BMX bike. Pretty sure new tires are all I would need!
6- I was planning on meeting-up with everyone one Friday!
