![]() I set out to do some road work, and I learned two things... One. I know now why I Mountain bike: cars, cars, and more cars. Between the kids being dropped off at the local school and the 5000 lbs Land Rovers, and 8000lbs Tahoes, I might as well have been a bike messenger in "The City", and gotten paid. But it was a unique experience trying to "survive" in an urban Downhill(deeper translation: fall of society? maybe, but Im not going to critique our society now...ok maybe a little!!!! what happened to the days of kids walking to school, or skateboarding, and biking? why do some of them even own legs?) versus, just a Downhill. Two. Never "dub" something something, till you have stepped in those shoes...the back way up Cholla has always been referred to, by me, as "Cheaters" way, as its kinda riding up neighborhoods, and pavement...in reality I had never taken it(quite proud, yet ashamed now) its a pretty tough climb....mind you its no Cholla with its loose dirt and mini valleys where your tires can get lost, and of course my favorite cactus(see acupuncture post many mooms ago). But it got my heart going, and my legs a bit touchy. All in all it was good to just pedal on the new rig, the rain has made getting out on my new stead difficult and I'm resorting to being a pinball in an urban jungle with many small, and large animals who seemingly don't want to eat me, but they sure like making sport of it all.... ![]() Thai Disclaimer: Some of you know I would never go into closed trials so this is not for you, the rest I didn't go in... |

I wouldn't worry about it. When I started riding again, the road climb to the top of Cholla was painful for me but yes, I watch for the real OC types on cell phones zooming up and down Canyon Vistas.

Thanks man, it rides great, its a little heavier than my spesh, but handles descents much better(not jittery), and climbs pretty great for a bigger machine.
yea I think that I worry about the SUV's more then the climbs... |

You know sometimes its fun to do that urban riding, shooting in and out of parking lots, around cars, up roads you wouldn't drive, hopping off of curbs like I'm ten again, etc. I've found many interesting little dirt roads and other fun stuff by doing that.
The snow crew has there epic runs down the sides of mountains with no trails or lines to take and I figure sometimes that urban jungle is the same for us.
