Default RR: We do easy rides too...

We talked about doing a shuttle ride this morning, but wound up preferring to sleep in a little, and then do an easy spin ride.

So, we headed out to SRP around 10 am.

I took it pretty easy. Everything hurt. It still does.

Got a few photos:

The line-up

Gratuitous bike shot

The crew

I stopped to smell the flowers...

Fun descent

Gratuitous yet again

Scenery

Jump shot

What I consider to be the most technical section of SRP

Good day to be out... and we went less than 8 miles and climbed less than a thousand feet

Sissies!

Sure, I may not have ridden today, but I watched two entire football games and downed most of a can of reduced fat BBQ Pringle. Top that!

Will do! It was kind of a last minute decision and it's a far drive for you to do this It's aight... but, if I didn't live 10-15mins away, I wouldn't ride SRP. Much like we don't ride Aliso, etc. Too far for nothing really special, unless it's local.

But, we'll hit you up next time!

Next weekend: SRC races!!!

I hear if you ride on the other side of the road(the side the visitor center is at) that there is a pretty techy trail that goes all the way down to the bottom.

GaryS told me about it, you may want to PM him for exact details.

Rob,

Are you talking about Superman? If so it's a little technical, but can be cleaned.

We rode part of it one day last June... I really wasn't impressed. And, since the rains, the loose sand is probably even worse.

You'd take 15S down to Clinton Keith and go to the visitor center at the top of the hill.

Thanks. I'll probably stick to the other side then in the future.

Well, I don't have any pictures to add but here are my thoughts as far as RR goes:

We got up later today and slowly woke up, feeling all the aching muscles. Going out for a spin was probably a good idea, so we packed up and headed out to SRP. Dan and I had ridden there once before (when we tried out the Intense demo bikes), in the summer, with no water...and we only got a very small sampling of the loop.

It felt good to spin my legs! I knew the loop would be fairly short so I tried to really push up the little climbs. At one point I dropped into my small chain ring and came to a sudden deceleration...that was a mistake. I kept it in middle/big the rest of the way.

Every once in a while, a fun ride is in order and that's what we got today. We saw lots of bikers and some hikers. Did you know today was "National Don't Wear a Helmet Day?!" We saw 2 or 3 riders out there with no helmets on. Boggles my mind. A couple little kids on tiny bikes gave Justin a run for his money! It was priceless to see the kid's legs spinning at about 120 rpm

The SRP trails might not be the most technically demanding out there but they were definitely fun! I was pretty toasted by the end, having been within sight of Dan for a lot of the ride...that's something I can't say very often

Back to Allison & Justin's casa for some great eats and the game.

All in all, we worked hard this weekend but had a great time riding together.

BTW...in the photos below, I noticed our line choices...and neither one of us saw the others do this section so it was all spontaneous. There is truly more than one way to skin a cat!

What time were you guys out there? I was there on my SS with my son from 12-2. We had a fun time. It has been a good trail for him to learn on and gain confidence and is pretty fun on a SS. The weather was great and the scenery is pretty cool out there. It has become the favorite family ride.

We also ate at Tacos Tijuana at the bottom of the hill corner of I-15 and Clinton Keith which is really good .

Getting a ride in with your son and eating California Burritos is a good Saturday!

We were out there from like 10-11 or so on Sunday morning. It's a decent local trail! I like to go after work in the summer for a quick loop.
