Default RR: Easy Sunday Ride

We had 19 riders show up for a great Sunday ride today. We had a mixture of Trail Angels and STR peeps. The route followed along Tijeras Creek Trail and then Ladera Ridge, followed by the always fun Waterworks singletrack, then back up Tijeras Creek.

The weather was perfect and the hills were very green. This is a great time of the year to ride around here in south OC.

Just before Waterworks we hooked up with Jordansrealm and his buddy (didn't catch his name sorry). I spotted his new tan singlespeed 29er from all the across Antonio! Sweet rig Jordan!

It was great to finally meet some of the STR people so I could put a face with the name.

I'll let Singletrack Angel or someone else fill in more of the story while I provide some images.

Looks like a great ride. I sooooo wanted to do this route, but a slightly sore knee from yesterday told me to stay off the bike for the day. Nice pics & RR.

How come I wasn't informed of this ride? I do know the secret OC handshake now. I got it from Dstepper, but he made me promise not to tell who showed me....did I type that out loud?

Sorry for the delay here are some pics from this morning's ride. Incredibly beautiful day temp was just right and we had a fun loving bunch with a dash of smack talking to spice things up.

Here we are rolling off from Canada Vista Park

Regroup along the creek; Craig (red shirt breaking in the Giant)

Look at this scenery

The Unicyclist

The drop

After a quick jaunt up Oso Parkway we did a quick short and steep climb up to get to Ladera Ridge

Here SingletrackAngel giving the thumbs up

Regroup shot from the back of the pack

Riding along Ladera Ridge...this area looks incredible you cant put into words how beautiful it is and to think just on the opposite side of this ridge are homes.

Alan (Flash) & Bon (giving the V sign) both loving the singletrack. Glad you hung in there Al. Again look at the backdrop...this is why everyone wants to live here.

Wrapping up the ride at waterworks here's a TA doing a huck

The guys contemplating or reliving their glory days or attempting the "i'll do it if you do it"

Craig going BIG...my camera just missed it

I have to say that waterworks is one helluva fun ass singletrack...it reminds me a little bit of Serrano Cow Trail at Whiting. Here we've regrouped from that little section

And our ever reliable tour guide John "Keepwhathappens"

Here's a panorama of this gorgeous area

Lots more pics HERE

Awesome photos Foo!

I'm still curious how you get your images larger on the thread. Mine are 1024x768 but always show up smaller in the thread view.

do you upload via str gallery? i think that's what keeping the images smaller. I upload to my hosting and then hot link from there. Maybe?

And thanks for the compliment, coming from the man w/ the "eye" for it. Not bad for a 3+ year old Canon

Thanks for the awesome pics KWH and Foo!

It was a great day, and very beautiful as the pictures show.

Great crew today, with TAs, STR peeps and some new gals... It was very nice to meet everyone, although I was surprised that there were no takers for the KeepsWhatHappens "A" team. Perhaps his reputation precedes him? Anyway, we hit the trail 19 riders strong and enjoyed the scenery. It was nice to hook up with Jordan and Matt during the ride - they finally found the pelleton! Another highlight was the two unicycle guys... So that's what you go to when a SS rigid fixie doesn't challenge you anymore??

I will conquer the hill up the start of Ladera Ridge - I only made it 3/4 today... In my defense, I would like to say that I am still recovering from that nasty attack of shingles... No one seemed noticed the fading marks on my face from it today.

The Ladera Ridge and Waterworks singletracks were awesome; I even caught some air on a couple of jumps at Waterworks. The ride was all too short and before I knew it I was back at the parking lot, wishing for more singletrack.

I will post this ride again for a Sunday morning after the Superbowl... mark your calendars for Sunday morning 2/17. Perhaps we will head uphill and hit the Chiquita Ridge singletracks next time before Ladera Ridge/Waterworks and make it an intermediate ride.

Looks like we're getting rain next week, so the beautiful green scenery will continue for a while.

Thanks again to all the STR riders who joined us today. Nice meeting all of you.

Nice to meet a number of you (by the Oso Parkway entrance) although I didn't get a chance to catch you guys from the Canyon Vista parking lot.
