While everyone else and their brother were out riding today, we had trail work on Upper and Lower Holy Jim. I felt like I wanted to back out and go riding, but knew that we wanted to have the trails in great shape for VQ/CC... so logic won out over feeling. 18 of us met at 8 am (reasonable hour, unreasonable temp of 42) and quickly divided into cars that could make the almost 2 hour journey to Holy Jim and Main Divide. Main Divide has some serious ruts in it now from all the recent rains... all rideable, but rocky none the less. Chris divided us into two groups: one to do Upper Holy Jim and my group which was Lower Holy Jim. Our intent was to brush back and to repair and hopefully build up some of the off camber embankments of the trail. Armed with power tools, cutters, chain saws, rakes and clippers we started down the trail.
About a mile from the top we ran into Justin & Allison, sdyeti and Dan. They were on their way down. I was able to stop them long enough to get a quick shot... then they were off. Also saw several riders from the Saddleback church group and Troy (Thinkfast)... on their way to Trabuco. Ah well... hope they all had fun, sniff, sniff.... We were able to recontour several key turns and build up a place that has claimed several tired unsuspecting riders. I was able to get a shot of the first rider riding across the newly built up trail. It's a real improvement. We worked until 2 pm and finally headed back to the cars (which had been guarded by Mrs MountainBike J). A quick sip of cold beer and back down to civilization and pizza. 18 tired riders, but the trail was nicely improved. For you guys doing the VQ/CC, hope you appreciate the sacrifice it took... I really wanted to go riding today... but the Tribe comes first!

Willie appreciates it very much!! I had a little spill today on HJ coming down on some loose rocks. I should have waited a couple more hours and the trail would've been in better shape! ![]()

Thanks for the hard work! I was surprised you guys were still around when I got to the top of Holy Jim. It was good to see you. I would have offered to help but at that time all that was left to do was drink some sodas. I'm looking forward to doing upper HJ to see how that is.
ThankYouThankYouThankYou!!!

I saw you guys driving in as i was riding up the wall, i really appreciate the encouragement i was given as i needed it. And I appreciate the work you guys are doing both to do the guided rides into the closed areas and the trial work.

You guys are good! Was just out there yesterday, and thought UHJ could really use some TLC. Sounds like it got it. Shoring on that section of Lower looks great, too. Nicely done, all. Thanks!
