Default Aliso SSufferfest (my cr@ppy ride report)

well, more like "let's take the ss out- it's lighter and easier to push!"

did the Sat AM ride that was posted by foofighter Duan. T'was nice to finally meet you in person, as well as 1fgrider (mike?) on his refurbished SSchwinn (fine bike!), and the rest- not sure on names though. (help! i didn't get a chance to introduce myself - I was the weird dude on the SSofa King wearing wool )

there was even a 1x1clyde sighting. sorry dude- didn't get a chance to introduce myself and say "hi". sweet SSalsa, BTW! 29er's represent! Clyde was definitely the peanut gallery with the slams and jabs that got all laughing.

now, who was the wicked fast guy on the brown kona SS? I thought i was doing just fine at nearly the front of the pack heading to TOTW and he comes smokin' past me like I'm standing still! damn!

Marcel (houseofmusic) even graced us with his presence while out on his own loop- apparently we're not good enough to ride with him

there were several new ssers getting their feet wet and one really out of shape guy (myself) that did their best to conquer the hills. I did better than i thought i would. neoSSers: stick to it. it does get easier!

my ride started a little earlier at the church lot at a very chilly 7:00 (someone said it was 41 degrees) and the spin down the pavement was nothing but chilly. damn cold, in fact. I was happy to hit the gate and up into the canyon- it was much warmer.

thanks for the ride, guys! now, anyone got the pics?

high points:
-getting flipped off by Duan for heckling.
-getting cursed at by Duan for suggesting he hit Dripping Cave on the way back to MILF park.
-something about a f%*^$ing peanut gallery from Duan
-getting back on the bike.
-finding out that muddy sections on meadows are, well, different: sliding sideways down the trail is interesting!
-trail runners

beat ya to posting the linky by 2.5 milliseconds.

expletives are just fine. actually, as a SSer, they're even more acceptable....as well as the "cry of the single speeder" aka the really loud belch

it is and i'll admit kinda cool when you're suffering on a climb and geared rider comes by and says "Singlespeed more power to you" and they pull away

Since I wasn't there, I'm guessing it's Justin (Klutter). Thx for the RR.

one better (that you'll know when in SShape):

you passing said gearie and getting the same response, followed by some expletive under the breath

No doubt Nam. I forget who said it in the past, but described it as "the hell that is riding with Justin and Jeff." And Jose too.

I'm happy if I can keep these guys in sight.

Nevertheless, they're all supercool foos.

Carl

Ethan's right though. Nothing like passing a gearie on your single. I got a pretty good kick out of passing folks on their $5K rigs with my cheapie single at the Bonelli race last year.

Ethan, sorry I did not get a chance to introduce myself...I was too busy trying to keep Justin off my tail...which doesn't really happen but a fella can try!
