Default Main Divide - Beek's to Eagle Rd open?

Do you guys know if the Main Divide is open from Beek's to Eagle Rd (about 1 mile from Motorway..err..Silverado Trail). I wanted to get in a few rides to pace myself for the first part of CC.

From the look of the closure map, it looks like it's open, but who knows. The closure map said that the Main Divide between the top of LHJ and top of UHJ was open too, right??

As far as I can tell it's open. I did that route back in mid december. Of course there is nothing on the trail telling if the road is closed or not.

Is that the road that goes from beeks, to the golfball and over?

If so... 2 weeks ago that gate was closed

Exclamation It's Open

I just got off the phone with Virgil from the USFS of the Trabuco District. The Main Divide from Beek's to Eagle is open. There will be another gate beyond the gate at Eagle Rd that will remain closed until further notice.

What prompt the addtional closures was the Hydromulching process. They closed off additional areas for the safety of the public. The Hydro-Mulching should be done by Sat pending weather. The area closure map that is located on the FS website will be up to date.

For future reference. Call this number and ask.

So starting from Blackstar, how far can you go up until you have to turn back?

Gene, thanks for double checking!

So, basically the main closed area right now is MDTT east of Eagle Rd., Maple Springs, Harding, and MDTT from 4 corners (and obviously down any direction) up to the Peak and down to LHJ?

Just trying to get an idea of the closure area, since the map may or may not be correct.

... Any news at all on re-opening the portions that were NOT affected by fires? Just curious.. there hasn't been any mention of the WS group-lead rides lately either, and we're getting really close.

Me too. I may do this on Sat if the Main Divide is open to Eagle Rd.

Yeah, I'm mostly only interested in the VQ route.. I knew it was closed and will be.. not that that stops people from riding it

I was thinking of riding HJ to Main divide to Santiago Peak on Sunday. Is that section of Main Divide also closed?

Supposedly it was! I really have no idea. On the hydromulch/closure maps it shows it as open, but Gene and a group tried to ride it a few weeks ago and were told that it was closed. Obviously there aren't any gates or anything... so, if there is a ranger who knows?

All the way to Eagle Rd which is almost to The Motorway. You can get a good idea about the climbs after the golfball

You can go up to UHJ on the MD now as well. It was closed that weekend when I went because they were hydro-mulching close to the peak.

As far as the guided rides. The plan was submitted and being reviewed. We should hear from Chris V on this soon, I hoping before the weekend. Keep an eye out for the posting here and your email because it will be a first come first serve basis

Black Star, although muddy in some spots, isn't bad, because of the type of soil pretty hard pack in most areas. It should be fine by Sat if it doesn't rain anymore. The usual puddles of course will be there like in the flats before Tuttle's place, but after that, it should be fine.

Eagle to Skyline is all fireroad correct?

A nice training ride would be Blackstar to Pleasents Peak...down Eagle Rd and up Skyline to Beaks then back down Blackstar?

Gene? Allison? anyone?

The whole area is fire road.

That'd probably be good, but other than Blackstar I've never ridden any of what you are talking about Directions?

Don't know how far the bottom of Eagle is to the bottom of Skyline, cause on the OC side, Black Star and Maple Springs, Harding and STT were all pretty close together and you could do a pretty good loop wth those combos. Maybe some of the guys that live on the Corona will pipe.
