Well no broken faces but as the fable goes Skinny mos def won this race
hatin life that all parks/most trails are closed but there was no way I wasn't riding this weekend so in response to my post -> 10am urban assault (approx time) Boats arrives at my place with his bike in hand. However instead of bringing his fatty Enduro set up with 6-7 inches of sus and rolling 2.5's he brings his "skinny" ultra light q-ball 29'er SS with slick tires. I greet him carrying my 2 year old son who promply give chris a high five and oogles (sp?) his bike. Already i know i am doomed as I got the 40lbs+ Stinky ready to rock. So off the the "races" we go, after riding ~5 miles and climb a few paved hills we figure we might as well check out the mtn to sea trail (picking it up behind peters canyon...no we did not ride through peters) as it not something high on my agenda in the past. Surprisinlgy a chill ride and the "dirt" trail was in decent conditon and held up well under the tires. upon getting to the "river trail" we inadvertanly head away from the "sea" not noticing the water in going opposite direction from our direction (yes, i would have been a goner in the wild west days...what side on the river does moss grow again )anyway, once we come to this realization we elect not to backtrack and do entire trail as our direction will take us home in the "planned tim allocation" and merely continue on with a smile on our faces that at least we are riding and weekend in not a total wash. Decide to do some more "exploring" on way to get back home and good old Boats comes through with a GPS phone so with a few lefts and rights (all uphill, wtf?) we're back on track and heading back to the ranch. During the last sprint on Newport blvd, it starts to drizzle and Chris clearly lays down the rubber (and big ring) and i'm in his rear view mirror until we arrive back in the drive. All in while rather ride "real dirt" good fun and always great to ride with Chris. ![]() Think best part was watching the difference in climbing with me in granny just creeping up each hill and Chris standing, making turns and moaning about his gearing ![]() overall garmin say ~18.5 miles and 1800 climb pics below - fat and skinny and google earth
