Default Can anyone identify this trail?

Hi all,

Can anyone identify the trails in the attached map? They are marked by red x's. The trail north of the 73 off of laguna canyon looks like it might be fun, but I don't know how to get over to it, or if it is legal riding...

Sorry if this has been posted already elsewhere, but hard to search for a trail thread when you don't know the trail name!

kinda hard to tell what trail it is by looking at a street map... try doing the same thing to the satellite map... also if you've ridden there and they are not marked trails, they are indeed illegal

North of he Toll Road: If it is the one climbing the hill you may be looking at Stagecoach... it is a legal trail.

South of the Toll Road: I believe you maybe looking at where Marie Callenders comes off the ridge and is off limits....or maybe the section of Stagecoach that is not open yet. But it is probibly the access to Laurrel Canyon and off limits to bikes.

Go to a bike shop and get Franko's map it will answer your questions or stop in Nix Center and get thier map.

The lower 'X' looks like it marks the entrance to LWP. MC runs along the 73 if I remember correctly (and yes MC is closed to MTB).

The upper 'X' would probably be Stagecoach heading out from the Nix center (and it IS open for MTB).

Thanks everyone for the replies.

tkblazer - thanks for the response, next time i'll use a satellite map (I should have thought of that one!)

dstepper - seems you are describing the exact trail I have in mind north of the toll rode - just north of the tollroad off of laguna canyon I see a hill climb, and occasionaly riders on it. I guess you must catch this trail from the Nix nature center???

silverspot - The lower x represents a park entrance. I'm not sure of the name, but I know it used to be open only to hikers on the weekends. Seems to be open everyday now, and I see cars with bikes in their often. I've connected to this trail from the backside of el morro a long time ago when it was a no-no before I really knew it was a no-no. I'm wondering if it is open to riding now?

thanks again - Mike

Correct, you can catch Stagecoach from Nix.

As far as the lower x parking lot, it is open most days now.

Your lower X would be the entrance to Laguna Wilderness Park (aka LWP). There are a few trails in LWP that are closed to MTB but the majority are open to biking. You can park there ($3 charge) and ride up Willow (LWP fire road) to the top (Bommer) and hit some good trails from there. Make a left on Bommer and you'll get to T&A (S/T that brings you back down to Laguna Cyn Rd) and Old Emerald (S/T that drops you down into a canyon that you'll have to climb back out of). Make a right on Bommer and you'll be headed towards El Moro and all the goodness that is over there.
You can get a decent trail map at the LWP parking lot.

There's a Moro ridge/canyon and Bommer ridge/canyon in the general area. I'm not familiar with Borrow ridge.

As mentioned above, the upper X is either Stagecoach or an illegal trail depending on the exact location of the X. The lower is the entrance to LCWP
