Live Free, Ride Hard

My first ride of the new year was a fun ride on 'some trail' located in 'some hills' behind my house. I guess some of the locals would've called sections of what I rode the Nursery Ride but I just call it - the trails. It was one of the those day where the weather was just begging you to ride and so I gave in to my inner Jman.
I just wanted to go exploring...you know the real reason most of us probably picked up a bike in the first place, either as an adult of as a kid. I just wanted to ride and get somewhat lost so I picked some trails I rarely ride or have never ridden before. After only about 20 minutes of riding I was properly 'out there' and doing some serious bushwacking with a Heckler as my machette. Seriously though I ended up on some sick steep uphills that it looks like the 'throttle twisters' have a blast on. So up I pushed for nearly twenty minutes before I got to one of the gnarliest downhill sections I've found out here. It can't be ridden fast due to the rocks and the deep sand instead it was one of the downhills that require finesse, body english and a proper touch on the brakes. The kind where you lose bits of skin to the grabbing branches of long dead scrub brush and finsh with ear to ear grin!!! Another words it was true mtn biking! IMHO. I even got to a pretty cool summit where you could see both Lake Skinner and DVL which is a rare view from 'my hills'.So without leaving the comforts of 'my hills' I got to experience a whole new set of trails I'd yet to discover. Very cool way to end my weekend and start off yet another awesome year. Hope everyone had an awesome New Year and thanks for reading. Keep the rubber side down!

It was, the cool part of a good ride is that it stays with you afterwards. My buddy (non-rider) always teases me about how hyper I am after a ride. I just figure its afterglow
. I just got done doing a bunch of cleaning, playing with the kids and now I'm very happily exhausted and kicking back on the couch!!! I don't care if its DH, DJ, FR, XC, AM, SS, 29er, or rigid the plain and simple truth is Riding Rules! ![]() ![]() ![]()
