What a great way to end the year. Despite a crash and some major cramping (thanks for the Gu's Troy). I had a great time.

Unfortunately riding while sick made it that much worse for me today. I feel like crap and have no voice.

Happy New Year everyone.

I'll post some pics later

Maaan Craig, I heard from Jfish that your cold has caught up with you - bummer - I got it too and I'm laying low.

Troy not only saved you yesterday but he gave me some Electrolite tablets that helped a lot - my calf muscle was getting the jitters on top of Trabuco. Thank you Troy...

Great riding and hope you feel better,

D

PICKEL JUICE!

I had my little juice flask, and was taking swigs throughout the ride, and never did cramp up.

No problem guys. That big ol' pack I was wearing was like a snack bar inside. I rode today and didn't even need to restock it.

Man, if I'd read the post earlier (maybe a day or 2 earlier!) I'd have joined everyone for my first official STR ride! Bugger, Romde from home up to the top of Trabuco, took some pics from the top of Pinos. Then realized it was getting late, and didn't feel like running Bell Ridge and turned tail and launched back down Trabuco....Well maybe next time!

Happy Holidays from the Trabuco Crimbo tree!!!

What? Nice try renaming and trying to keep secret a trail you had NO hand in building. Another Warriors Society myth.

Default A Great Adventure

I had a great time on this ride. It was good to see so many familiar faces. That was the main reason I decided I needed to get on this ride. That ridge is spectacular. It was a lot of work but well worth it. As people have said before, it was a very strong group of riders. I had the pleasure of meeting and riding with Crash Maxwell for the first time on this ride. I was not disappointed. There were at least 4 different times when I had to make sure that he was OK after a tumble. To be fair, he did put on new cleats and his pedals were sticking.
Thanks Craig for being such a great host and putting up with me for 2 days. I will certainly repay the favor the next time you come up my way.
I have some pictures. I didn't take too many because I was busy riding and hiking. Thanks everyone for a great day.

Hike-a-bike was the activity of the day

We are supposed to be going down the ridge

Craig

Allison heading down the trail

A long line of riders

Dell dropping in to Can't See Bottom

Some would say this is his best angle

Justin (the camera just doesn't do this section justice)

Shannon cleans it

Here is how several of us did it

Denny pulling the bike up for a second try

How many riders does it take to hike-a-bike?

Crash at the end of the ride

CSB is a toughy. Like you I'm around 50/50 at best for cleans. Retries seem like a good idea before I start the ride, but by the time I get all the way there ... not so much.

Shannon's 1 for 2 on CSB - that only his 2nd BR. When I rode it with him a couple years ago that section was really loose and fast making it a lot harder. I forget if anyone cleaned it that time.

CSB is fun, but my favorite parts are that steep, curvey part at the start and the really flowy stuff after you're past CSB. Super fun (as long as you don't run over Crash laying on the side of the trail stuck to the pedals with those new cleats)!

Nope - I made it past what I thought were the hardest parts on top then slid into the bushes across from the big rock pile. Started again and took the left line through the rocks and cleaned that. I'm surprised I didn't see anyone else take that line.

I seen that line the first time I rode CSB. I couldn't get to it as I slid to the right. If you are able to get it, it may help you shed some speed (I think).
