Default Brown /El P on friday 12/21

Twas a brisk day on the hill Friday. Great climbing weather. Rode up from my house. Went up Brown around 11, doodled around on El Prieto and pedaled back. Everything was super tacky and sparkly clean. El Prieto is still my favorite local trail. You can moto it or ride it slow and it's always entertaining. Always stop at the Rancho BBH for a beer and a shot on the way back!

A view from the Rancho's patio...

Great ride report!
El Prieto is an amazing trail! Not the longest trail of all-time. The time you do spend on it though is singletrack heaven!

Ted- Next time "WE" hit the Gab's, we WILL end the ride at Rancho's! Next week?

I love el p. I switched it up today and rode up Brown mtn then up to the 2nd saddleback. Then down Ken Burton for the first time. Not as technical or fast as Sunset, but still a great time. Lots of stream crossings!

What day do you guys want to ride? I have the next two weeks off!

Ha! Lots of interesting memories from the ol' Rancho. Haven't been there since the owner (Ron) died and his wife (Erika, an old class mate) took it over but then didn't. The place was being run by probate and it got very weird so I stopped going. The place is funny and very local but for whatever reason, every other time I was there, I'd leave in the midst of a full blown bar fight. Got tired of the fat drunks with alcohol bravery so I stopped going. Besides, they're no fun to beat-up on. It's the Altadena version of the Buck of Sierra Madre. Both dive bars who serve $3.00-$4.00 well drinks filled with local bar flies.

EP is sweet. In fact, I think I'll do a quick loop up to brown saddle (probably the 2nd saddle) and down EP tomorrow about 10'ish.

What kind of shape is Ken Burton in right now?

I'd like to give Brown/Burton a try on either the 24th or 26th.
