Default RR:Silverado Trail Work Event

We had great turnout of 59 people at today's co-hosted Warriors Society/SHARE sponsored work event. Debra Clarke with the USFS was there to let us in the gate and let us park at the bottom of the Silverado (motorway old name) Trail. The bad news is it's actually it's now a road. She also led us up the trail lent and hand and then graciously helped serve us lunch provided by the Warriors Society.

Thanks everyone for showing up and busting butt.

Now for the pics:

...continued...

It was nice to see that despite the damage done fighting the fire that most of Silverado Canyon appears to be unscathed by the fire.

Great turnout today. If it weren't for the amount of folks that showed, we'd still be out there. Thanks to all who came out. See you all at the next one. Now there's still time to get a ride in before dark.

Huge thanks to everyone who went out there today. Wish I could have joined, but other commitments kept me away for this one.

BTW: I think something like the "work party shot should have a place in the STR calendar!

I agree. By Gene's count there were about 10 STR peeps at the trail work today. Saw lots of new faces out there today so there were more than Warriors, SHARE and STR...other groups were present as well. It's really refreshing to see the MTB/hiking community come together in force to tackle a big job.

John - pick a good photo and post it in the calendar thread! Too tired to choose.

Thanks for the work, everyone. Sad to see the fire road.

Unhappy

Pretty sad to see what the Motorway err... Silverado Trail ended up being. Aside from building water bars, we started to think like mtbers and made lines so eventually those lines will become the new single track once it takes shape.

The bottom 1/2-3/4 mile of Silverado Trail (the new name) was dozed. Then the there was a firebreak cut straight up and down the fall line. That break intersects the trail at the end of the "road" at the bottom and then again higher up someplace (I didn't see it but was told).

Apparently also at the top extensive earthwork was done to prevent 4x4 from entering the trail from the top. I don't have first hand accounts of what that looks like.

check out the Warriors Society photos of the Silverado trail work, they have a couple pix showing the large crater's that were created to prevent 4x4's from accessing the trail. pretty insane looking...

Oh ya, almost forgot, major thanks to everyone who showed up for this trail work event..

Eron shows that MSR gloves have more use than motorcycle riding. Nice form Magnus Ver Magnussan.
