San Diego: LPQ Open

"We were able to open a section of trail today.

North of the creek from Penasquitos Creek Park (Park Village and Camino del Sur) west to Vista Sorrento Parkway. Lopez Canyon is also open. All trails south of the creek and all creek crossing will remain closed for a while, they were really damaged in the first storm, the second didn't help at all. The ground is really saturated, great for installing fence, but not so good for recreating. Even the trails we have open are still soft and there are puddles, so please be cautious.
If you don't want to get muddy, don't go on the trail, it is not acceptable to go around the puddle in the vegetation.

Rode yesterday, and riding Friday. My throat is killing me from sucking all the cool air yesterday.

I haven't noticed any indication that PQ is open as of yet at least on the West End Parking lot. Everyday coming and going to work these parking gates are locked shut. On my way home yesterday it thought would of been all opened again.. Neg - Maybe later on this afternoon or tomorrow morning the Rangers will allow others to park there again?

I'm sure parking on the East end is all good to ride. If I can escape from work early I just might have to get a 60min spin in. Otherwise, I'm going to be Bonking at Sycamore from Martha's and out. )

Well, you know there are actually other trails besides LPQ.

I've got a Christmas party to go to tonight, so no riding for me. We're riding at Daley tomorrow and LPQ Saturday afternoon and evening.

Turns out I'm doing Christmas stuff with the fam tonight too.

If my wife, dog, and baby have me up all night tonight like last night, I might just go for a 2AM DMM ride.

The west end parking lot serves the south side, "Main Trail", so they'll probably leave that closed. The Main Trail is still closed... it's the North side that opened up. Ironically, the section from Canyonside park over to Camino Del Sur ISN'T open... so if you park on Camino Del Sur at Park Village, that's the "open trailhead".

I'll be riding LPQ this afternoon and will let you guys know, but Im pretty sure Lopez/sorrento side is open. I called yesterday and they said it was...and with this confirmation I feel comfortable at least the main fire road is open, but Wagon wheel will probably not be.

Edit: Hey Guys I semi rode LPQ this afternoon, and everything is closed again on the Sorrento side...when I started my ride Lopez road was open then when we got back to the junction everything was closed again so we had ot take the streets back to work...

The recorded message (858-538-8066) this morning (Friday 12/14) says the north side is open all the way end-to-end except a detour at Pen. Creek Park (the park just north of the trail between the ballfields and the powerline road). Crossings are closed.
