Man, 1 1/2 months after the VQ and 5 weeks before the Traverse? This would be brutal, but very tempting. Thanks for the info.

that's sick. did the Juilan bike festival a few years back with j-dirt. fun stuff. nothing on that ride was too tech but come decent climbing in a few spots inlcude last few miles. this one would be 'fn nuts. good luck to anyone who hits it

I can definitely recommend the Julian race. I did it last year and had a blast. The climbing is relatively mild and the course is fairly entertaining.
The third loop is definitely the toughest. Lots of climbing and it winds around soo much you never really get a feel for where the hell you are! In terms of difficulty......I'd say it's harder than the VQ and easier than some of the easier 100 milers. Brent killed it last year on the CX bike. There were a few of us that gave chase for a while.....but it was obvious he was going to win it or get really hurt trying. The best part of this race was that it was actual racing. Soo many endurances races become a social ride(which is awesome and a big part of the fun)....but this thing was different. If you passed someone....they gave chase. Again.....highly recommend it.

Starting spring break on Monday 3/24- I am planning on pre-riding at least the first loop and maybe the 2nd loop if time permits-
The wife and kid are dropping me off early and heading to sea world. If anyone want to join me that would be awesome- I'm not sure what time I'll be there- I'd like to try to be there by 8. I'm also going to post this on the event calendar.

I would not recommend anyone doing this 1 week before an event...I did it last year and it was tough. Do not know how it would be geared since i did it on a single.....took me over 9 hrs for all 3 loops

We cleared the Kelly Ditch from the winter dead fall, so it should be good for pre riding.
I don't know what you guys are complaining about. I have done all three loops and I am an old guy that doesn't put on tons of miles. Of course I have never done all three loops in one day! ![]() |
