Looks like you're missing something.........me riding it! Looking good, try to build rollers, with the second roller bigger than the first to help pick up speed. I see a hardtail in my future.

you need more rollers/whoops and maybe add in a few turns/berms and transitions... where is the track at? i'll put in some hours if you're close by

this book would be a good help as well

also not pictured(i will try tonight) i mounded up some dirt, dirt jump style, not as steep cause im not a dirt jumper. but its across the back, i have a series of jumps first ones big, 5 foot gap, next one not as big and third is small, setting up for a berm, and then a jump back into the "pump track"

good idea about more rollers, i will try and throw more shovel work in there this week. most likely before i throw in the rollers i will pack in and set the features i do have that way when i get tired of working ill actually have something to ride!!!

but keep the suggestions coming, and i live in norco fyi.

from what I've heard, pump track ideally should be on flat ground, but have almost no flat surfaces (so you can keep the momentum going with the 'pumps'). You have a pretty big area there, nice!!

Here's some inspiration....

This is the one we built on private property up near Gorman. It took about 160 person-hours to build the 500' pump track, and we've now run out of water and cannot do any more.... We used a Dingo to do most of the initial earth moving, then did it all by hand. The vid is a series of still shots and ends up with the two inaugural laps which I took my helmet cam on... Enjoy!

Check our Lee Likes Bikes he has a bunch of stuff about pump tracks, he co-wrote Mastering Mountain Bike Skills with Brain Lopes. Which is a killer book by the way.

The video Kanga posted kind of makes the track look flatter then it is. The rollers on the track are 10'-11' apart and 10"-14" high. We have an uphill section in there that makes it tough to pump the entire thing with out a peddle stroke but it is possible.

It looks like you have some good soil to work with and I see a bobcat in the photos so that will make much easier!

My only suggestion is, it needs more cow bell.
Oh yeah, and an invitation to ride.

we need either a water roller to pack or an atv to roll with so we can get it hard packed enough

You can rent a sod roller for about $8 per day at your local nursery. You can buy one for around $135.00

I have also been working on a track(without the Bobcat though...Luuckeey).
I'll post some pics as it gets closer to being done. Best advice I have
is to ride it alot and fine tune it as you go. Some things work and
some don't....just ride it and the kinks will get worked out.

sweet, thanks for all the advice, i was thinking about the roller, buying a used one would be awesome, but i guess renting for now would be good.

i would have never thought of going to a nursery for one.
